You're mostly paying for the everything surrounding burning tc than rather for the hat alone. And for most people I think its a bucket list hat so yknow... Tf2 has two of these items, the Burning Team Captain, and the Golden Frying Pan. I personally think the pan is miles better than the hat, but it's been the key item years, and I suppose that isn't going to change anytime soon. If you wanted to seriously sell a burning TC you might have to wait like a year to sell it full priced because nobody is really that into it anymore. And this chained. So, if you traded with a guy that traded with a scammer, you got also banned as a scammer, and so on down the line. The level 3 Team Captain was probably the most notable of these. It eventually became "uncursed" both because of a relaxation of banning procedures over the major sites combined with it being involved in a major shark (basically a complete newbie unboxed one, and the owner of the level 3 one got him to swap team captains).
