Hello, I wanted to start making from scrap to unusual, so I will start from scrap and crappy things to a rich things. I need tips on starting, and also if you could give me some useless weapons that I can turn into scrap I will be really thankfull. As I said before I want to start from Scrap to Unusual it probably take me a year or so to get something good but it will be worth it so I need as many tips and weapons as possible.

There really is only one tip for scrap to unusual: Don't. It's not worth it. You will earn the money needed for that unusual faster by looking for pennies in the street.

begging for handouts defeats the purpose of the whole 'scrap to unusual' thing

besides, you can get an unusual (some taunts) for 2-3 keys these days

If you really want to try this, flip steam items and cases. Buy trading cards, for example, for 0.22 or 0.33 scrap per, and sell them on the steam market. Then buy either keys or tour of duty tickets (whichever loses you the least ref) and repeat. This is very slow but its about the only vaible low tier profit method. Once you have some capital, watch trade.tf and take good deals and sell in trade servers or to bots. Good luck.

Math on this cause I'm a huge nerd.

1 scrap = .44 cents

Cheapest unusual taunt at time of writing = $5.06

Assuming a very generous 1 day to double your money (plausible for the first few days, unlikely for later on) you will reach your goal midway through the 11th day. Realistically you will need to be trading at least 8 hours/day to reach this goal probably more but benefit of the doubt you spend 80 hours over the course of 11 days to get a crappy unusual I see you taunt.

Alternatively if you are in a place with 5 cent can returns you only need to find 102 cans/bottles for $5.10. You can probably get 20 cans an hour on the low end by clearing out ditches or just grabbing cans from the top of gas station trash cans.* Even if you only did this hour once a day you'd still have your unusual in 5 days with only 5 hours of work put in. In addition, you're likely to find coins in the parking lots of gas stations further reducing time needed.

Alternatively dressing like a homeless person and going pan handling will get you $5 in less than hour if you choose the right location.**

*If you were ok digging in the trash you could probably hit up a station with 8+ trash cans while they are over half full and get 50-80 cans in one go.

**I don't condone this method of getting money unless you're actually homeless.

If you have the volume those 1 cent sales add up but 1 scrap is not volume. Also most of the low tier economy is bots in which it costs almost none of your time to run.

you really cant in this day and age. if you want to become rich by trading, i think its better to start off with a higher budget

lmao, get out of low-tier trading while you can. Scrap to unusual is almost impossible to do now if you ask me.

There isn't much that hasn't already been said. Although if you're still dead set on doing this I recommend you watch Alan's series since it gives you a perspective on how lower-tier trading is done. Also, just a personal tip; learn up on spell trading, nice deals can land you a few keys profit.

Hmm. Not worth it. But if you still want to do it, maybe skin trading can somewhat work. Tho you would need at least 2 refs to start and a shit ton of luck

Hey I am interested in skin trading as well, you got some pointers? I never really trade with skins except for the ones that I will keep for myself.

I'm gonna be that one guy and say that low tier trading is far from impossible, just buy and flip cheap items on Marketplace. You can even sell your flithy and unwanted crates at a profit if you don't mind waiting.
