Lets talk about why Scrap.tf auctions are a joke

this auction right here just ended

had at least a few bids over 3 keys

https://scrap.tf/auctions/1MQW73

right as it ends the user rejects all bids

user then nearly instantly relists the item, right here

https://scrap.tf/auctions/1HZ7VP

according to staff this is cool and totally ok

So in summary, auctions are a joke and buyers can apparently cancel all bids if they don't get one they like (despite the rules saying you can't cancel an auction.. and that you gotta pay if you win)

They also specify no minimum which is clearly a load of horse sh1t if they canel all the bids at the end. They clearly want 10 keys which they are never gonna get for two shit spells

Yeah, it is really strange how they choose what things are allowed.

During a time where there was a bug and some items did not properly display (displayed as question mark for example), a person listed a Pro KS Strange Backscatter (I think if memory serves me right) at a minimum and instant buy just below price of a Pro KS Strange Scattergun. Then commented (comments can be deleted, but auction name cannot be changed) that it is a scattergun. Deleted all comments (including his own) after being called out by me. Reported and I was told by staff he is not breaking any rules - "He is allowed to list at any price he wants".

But when someone lists a pro ks degreaser fabricator for auction with the auction name as "Professional killstreak Deagreaser" and you can clearly see from the icon that it is a fabricator...Nope, auction removed and warning given.

I agree the rules surrounding it is kinda stupid. But I think it is meant for situations when "All items accepted" is allowed and overpriced items are in the bid, the auctioneers can reject those items to avoid major loss. Or it could be a remnant when overpriced skins were allowed in every auction. You could say, they accepted those risk when using auctions, but it is what it is.

One of the rules is to not have misleading titles for auctions and fake "No Min" auctions get away with it all the time.

Scrap.tf rules are actually stupid.

"NO MIN" but rejects unsatisfactory bids. Rule 5 broken.

It would appear he's using the auction as a sell-listing given the rejection of bids and relists. Rule 4 broken.

The saddest part is rule 1 is all winning bids are final. Any bidder that is unable to pay what they offered is subject to suspension. Yet, the auctioneer reserves the right (with no mention in the rules) to reject all offers if they want.

Scrap.tf: "Don't use the site to list items for sale, because it is against our rules. If you don't get what you want from our auctions, you can just keep your item and try again."

Not a stupid rule, Steam trading was down on the site for a few hours a couple of days ago.

Do you want people with "No min" auctions to potentially get completely ripped off? Also the same with allowing item bids, people trying to bid overpriced items its necessary.

And yes, obviously you have to pay if you win a bid, otherwise people would just troll the ever living fuck out of other people by bidding ridiculous amounts and effectively soft locking other people out of making an actual fair bid.

When an item has sellers listed at 5 and the auctioneer is rejecting bids over 3 keys in pure then it’s clear as day the guy is using the auction as a listing device.

I fully expect someone that states “no minimum” to get ripped off if not enough interest is generated. That’s his fault for not specifying what he wants and the fact he’s rejecting pure bids 20% less than listed sellers in order to relist would indicate his intent to use the platform as a listing device.

I understand rejecting overpriced items. Keys and ref are not overpriced.

guy rejecting all bids in last 1min, even if this is only pure(biggest bid 9keys) https://scrap.tf/auctions/7UU4N9  this was taking so long because everybody was fighting, EDIT ok i think he was scared and not declined my bid

His auction literally states “I want to sell for 11 keys”

But it’s not a sell order - Mods
