Backpack.tf inventory keeps using a fallback, can't list any of my items.

Anyone else had this issue before? I haven't been able to list any items for a few weeks now, keeps saying backpacktf is using a fallback. Is this an issue with steam? I've tried visiting my inventory and refreshing everything but still no luck.

yeah, something with the steam api, very common issue.  just come back to it later

Lol for a moment i thought i made this forum post, cause ive been waiting for 25 hours to list my items, its like im being banned for a few days from a few key features of bp.tf

The issue's more on Valve's end, as they only allow so many API requests so fast.

 

At least with fallback, you can still get a general gist of an inventory, as the alternative would be a blank screen with "Sorry, we can't load that backpack right now, please try again later."

Whenever it shows fallback inventory for me its usually when i have a random empty space somewhere in my inventory. A similar bug to when you used to try and view inventory in steam and it would time out and say retry later. That was due to a bug in the code that would fail showing the inventory if there was a random lone space somewhere in the inventory. If i sort the inventory by date when in game (Tf2) and all random spaces get removed it then usually refreshes here on backpack.tf. It has worked Every single time for me so far...

Looks like Valve is not pocketing sufficient number of millions in profit from TF2 any more - so they are cutting costs on network infrastructure  Its not about fixing bugs its about cutting costs and rising profit margin (without investing in game)...

game is 14 years old. valve made their money. valve reduced the number of requests over a year ago. honestly don't know how someone could not notice till now unless you are new  expect things only to become worse and less supported with tf2, cuz it won't get any better. oh, and then there's the full release of the tf2 source code and hackers being to upload malware from a pub server lol ya.... tf2 is dying ... dying .... done

I find it strange ZERO BOT.tf owners are complaining about this fallback inventory crap. That said they are probably spamming the steam servers every few minutes with price changes/bumps to reflect the change in other buy/sell orders that they are deemed priority in some bizarre way.. Blame the bots!

bot owner here, not from bot.tf tho, i made my own from scratch, the backpack updating issue affects me too and im quite sure all other bots too.
