Detah
I recently got a steam giftcard and I'm planning on using it to buy keys for trading. I heard that you should buy 10 or 20 keys pure. Just asking if there are any specific keys I should buy. I heard that I should buy Christmas keys since the crates they can open have festivisers. I'm the ultimate trading noob and I'm looking for advice to get my foot in the door of trading.
Erik
If you are looking to get into trading, purchase the regular TF2 keys. Link: https://marketplace.tf/items/tf2/5021;
Retarded Asian Programer
Buy regular Keys, these are the ones who always retain a certain price and are considered King in trading (P.S. Don´t trade with suspicious persons, the´ll get you to 99.999999% scammed )
Detah
thanks joseph stalin man. I have been watching a few videos from the virtual economist. Thanks for helping me get on my way
Pineapple Pizza
Mann. Co Supply Crate Keys are what you want. They're the standard TF2 currency. Don't buy unusual taunts, weapons. or first-third gen unusuals, if you're just starting; I'd recommend looking into spell trading, after doing your research. It's probably the easiest way right now to make profit at the 10-50 key scale.
leftyy
Don't trust anyone claiming to be a: steam admin, friend of a steam admin, person who accidentally reported you, person asking you to use a gambling website in return for free items, person trying to sell you a strange festive scattergun, person claiming to be a famous youtuber and/or trader who are asking you for items to showcase, person asking you to use a special bot, or anything that sounds remotely fishy. @Detah Edit: always check their rep to make sure they aren't a scammer before you even start talking to them (use http://steamrep.com/ or https://rep.tf/)

Detah
I am sure not to go on any other tf2 trade website that doesn't seem legit. Besides Backpack.tf, scrap.tf, and marketplace.tf satisfy me also I have to ask can I pay for items off marketplace.tf with funds from my Steam wallet? since I got a steam giftcard as an early Christmas present a few days ago

Urist
Here's my advice to you. Find a niche. Try to find a certain class of items (like spells, strange cosmetics, unusuals, etc.) that you can profit on and stick to those items. After a while you will be able to spot a good deal and know how to flip the items quickly. For me personally this was weapon skins. I've been able to multiply my inventory value by 10x trading them and now I know a lot about that area of trading. Good luck!
Detah
good to know... Also I did get some visa giftcards so I can just use those on marketplace.tf and as to respond to Urist I will probably try trading unusuals and then onto stranges idk yet also at the time of writing its Christmas so merry Christmas! (or smissmas in this case)
