Some dudes has robbed about +2000$ of items from a friend

Hello fellow gamers.

First of all I apologize if my english sounds wierd and if this topic doesn't belongs here, but I'm writting this in emergency because my friend's english is worse than mine.

So yeah, this isn't a clickbait tittle. A good friend of mine have been robbed around 2000$ in items today

here's his profile https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198057377305. You can notice every items lost with the compare tool, including spelled items, unusuals and valuable stuffs.

So basically, he has been called by the "admin" of a wierd tf2 gambling website who has manipulated him. My friend was aware that it may be a scamm or something like that, so he asked him to prove that he's the real admin and he has won some valuable items with the website. I'll spare you some useless details but at the end my friend wanted to save his items (I mean the valuable items he's owning  since a long time) by sending those items to his other account and his other account has been hacked (he's explaining me that his connexion has dropped suddently right after he has sent his items to his secondary account, he had the confirmation that all of the items were sent to the right account because he's using steam guard with the two accounts) and now all of his items are in a random dude's back pack (Among all of the items robbed there's this beak I've sold to my friend : https://backpack.tf/item/1637446972). As I writte this message, most of the items has been sent to this account: https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198311498888 (The beak is now in his backpack).

All of the items has been stolen by this account (https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198860286378) which may be an alt of the account listed above.

You can find the full conversation with the robber in this PDF: https://docdro.id/tI8bxUN

Side note: the Z A K guy is the one asking for the advertisement. Idk if it's also a side account of the robber..

I know there's like no way for him to recover his stolen goods, but is there a chance to do something to the robber ? I mean, I know my friend got screwed and he should have listened to me when I told him it smelled like a scamm but still. I'd like some advices on how to help him recover his lost items or maybe tag this person as a scammer or something, since reporting the profile is useless.

Thanks for your time and have a nice day !

Sorry for your friend... all you can do is report them on steam rep and give as much evidence as possible. You can try to report them on steam, but steam doesn't ban someone on one report.

Let this serve as a warning. If you know someone is a scammer, don't even accept their add, not even to toy with them.

just for legal infos: as an owner of site you are not supposed to play on the site you're running. in second place whoever makes this would do it in a secret way and wont just contact you to gift you some items, keep in mind they could do with an alt or by some trusted friend if it was nearly to true. In brief as soon as someone claims he is owner of site or wants sponsor just remove him and dont even listen. What you can do is a report on steamrep, it wont stop him but you will ruin his job for a while. Peace bro , deeply sorry for 2k loss.

I never get why people make these threads "for a friend". Why doesn't the actual victim of the scam start a thread. Its not a major issue, just a pet peeve.

Ok, so your friend wanted proof that the guy was an Admin on this gambling site, and to prove it the guy let your friend win.  Right there, the fact that your friend was given free wins tells you the site was totally not legit.  So, your friend got greedy, thinking he could win whenever he wanted, thus cheating other gamblers.

STEAM has ruled that gambling sites are not allowed, because the main reason is that they are run by scammers, and used by scammers to launder stolen goods.   Again, the fact that your friend was allowed to win, thus cheating anyone else that was in that pot......... yea, sorry but zero sympathy here.

Also, the one guy you linked is banned here at backpack.tf as a suspected scammer alt -  no shock there

It's beyond me that anyone can actually believe that they've just 'won free items'. Anything that is too good to be true is, unfortunately he's only got himself to blame.

Well he's not really a trader, he was buying all the stuff with real $$ from the SCM or MP.TF

Ikr, I told him it was an obvious scamm but he got screwed anyway.

How do you accumulate a $2000 inventory without knowing about these obviously BS scams? Did your friend get a gpan?

Same answer as BadHitreg, he has accumulated all those items only by buying it from the market.

True, he has been deceived by  the lure of profit .

Anyway thank you guys for your opinion, your advices and your notes. I hope his mistake will serve as a warning (as was mentioned by Nikspy). I'm trying to help him as I can and your words are precious.

To be honest it’s sort of suspicious. Could be a scam in itself. Can’t say you were scammed because people can figure out you’re full of crap real quick. Could be a way to try and guilt people into donating.

Now that you mention it, it’s actually kind of funny. Seems like 90% of the scam reports that I see start with “my friend”

I'm not asking for any kind of donation and I don't want any of these, I'm only looking for advices or informations. And yeah, 90% of scam reports starts with a "my friend" because the scammed guy doesn't want to be recognized as such but this time it's a scam report from the other 10%.

I talked to the guy who got his gpan phished (the guy who got a gpan from MvM last month) and he got a refund.

He said it's better not to alert other people about the scammer otherwise the scammers just move the items to another account - due to people adding him or making visible reports - and the process it takes for steam to get someone trade-banned is long and they usually have multiple accounts not tied to a single IP or cellular device.

And they can see/delete/edit comments posted on profiles, screenshots, impersonate you (when someone adds your account and asks if you got hacked) if they still have your login information.

If your friend had the intentions of getting fixed odds on a gambling site, wouldn’t he be considered an attempted scammer?
