While not super rare (compared to other items mentioned here) there was a moment where your tour number determined the level of the weapon drop you got for completing your tour. This lead to a few odd level items that are normally a specific level ie scottish handshake is normally level 10 but there are a handful of level 1-9 handshakes a few 11-20 (see bottom of page 41 for a few lvl 1's, lvl 2, and lvl 3 :) ).

 

There were also some spec/pro ks fabs that dropped without sheens as seen here

Why would I take six keys when I’ve beet offered 300 twice? Open to offers on the kiev though, assuming it was genuine interest and not a snarky comment ;)

I've also got some of these. The glitch also effected cosmetic rewards from MvM, though most cosmetics of course can already come in all levels, but not all of them.

 

I've got a level 5 and level 17 Scottish Handshake, a level 1 A Whiff of the Old Brimstone (usually level 20) and a level 5 Buccaneer's Bicorne (usually level 10).

 

Also during Gun Mettle for some reason amongst all the other item glitches happening, Shotgun levels were messed up. I've got 5 odd levelled Strange Shotguns and 2 odd levelled Unique Shotguns.

Level 45 Strange Shotgun

Level 62 Strange Shotgun

Level 70 Strange Shotgun

  • Strange Normals
  • Universal Killstreak Kits
  • The ability to restore Killstreak Kits and produce Sheenless / Effectless Spec and Pro Kits
  • The ability to craft Stock items (those Unique Shotguns that I linked earlier for example)
  • The ability to craft achievement items like the Black Rose and Iron Curtain (all the crafted Iron Curtains were untradable)
  • The ability to use Eyelander Killstreak Kits on the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker (this is personally how I applied a Killstreak Kit to my Headtaker)

Isn't a glitch, but still pretty cool. Back before the Finder's Fee was added, whenever someone found and reported an incredibly major economy-breaking bug/exploit, they got rewarded with an unusual that's untradable and can be almost any hat and effect you want. There's a Sunbeams Cheater's Lament for this reason. https://backpack.tf/stats/Unusual/Cheater's%20Lament/Non-Tradable/Non-Craftable/17 (At least, AFAIK this is how most of these weird "shouldn't exist" unusuals became a thing.)

The Australium weapons are from two seperate update glitchs. For a couple hours any stock strange weapon you got was normal, and another with the same glitch but it was for any weapon and came out unique quality.

The Cow Mangler was a glitch for a few minutes where you could paint them.

Service Medal was created by Valve employees. 

Righteous Bison I have no idea where it came from.

The rest I believe are all support granted items. Sometimes if Steam support decides to give you back your item (if you deleted it or got hacked or whatever the case may be) the person giving the item I assume doesn't use the item grant tool correctly and it's given without correct attributes.

Come on Fire, you should know better than that.

The glitch where Stranges were unboxed as Normal quality applied to only 7 weapons; the Scattergun, Sniper Rifle, Grenade Launcher, Stickybomb Launcher, Medi Gun, Minigun, and Flame Thrower. So if you got Australium versions of those weapons, and only those weapons, during the glitch they would be Normal. Other Australiums would be their regular Strange quality.

 

The Unique glitch did effect all weapons though.

Ah right the normal only effected stock strange weapons. Wasn't the Batsaber also effected during this same glitch because it was considered stock, or was that another time?

Different time. Strange Normals were from the first 22 hours of Gun Mettle. Normal Batsaber was the first 2 days of Invasion.

I have a specialized killstreak rock paper scissors taunt with agonizing emerald sheen. Can't remember if it was a cheap trade years ago or if I used a spec ks kit myself from an unbox.

I don't think I've seen any explanations anywhere, but I have two strange Demoman cosmetics with Allied Healing Done that have the count at like... 300 each? I thought it was funny when I applied it at first but I'm still not sure what made that counter go up 3 years later :V

Simple explanation: You can apply any Strange Part to any Strange cosmetic; there are zero checks - so not really glitched.

 

As for what made it go up - very likely Scream Fortress: Using the healing spell allows you to heal allies as every class even if that class normally cannot heal allies.

One of my favorites is the Dragon Slayer beat up war painted items.

 

For the first few weeks, only factory new Dragon Slayer dropped, then they patched it so it could be any wear. Then for some reason they patched it back to only allow factory new, and gave a bonus factory new to the people with the lower quality ones from the previous 10 days or whatever it was.

 

A decent amount of say field tested Dragon Slayer exist, but Battle Scarred is quite rare. Well worn and minimal wear are also getting hard to find now.
