Help upgrading GPU for 1440p

So recently I upgraded my 1920x1080 to a ultrawide 3440x1440 but the the frames have pretty died off in the process. What kind of power would I need to run on like medium graphical settings and a high steady fps?

Currently sitting on a Gigabyte GTX 1070 with an i7 6700k, If anyone has resolution i'd love to hear what you run.

A sweet spot would be an RTX 2080, should give you more than a stable 60 fps on most games, even on higher settings

Meh. The 2080 Super would be a pretty good bet. While he's at it, upping his CPU to the Kaby-Lake 7700K would really help as well. You system should easily support this with a 650-750 Watt PSU.

If you don't have 16GB of RAM, now is an excellent time to buy that as well.

I'm currently running a 2080 and im playing on 2560x1440p monitor. Most triple A titles i can maintain around a stable 60 fps.

Ultrawide might be different but not entirely sure. Usually on medium to high settings i can get 1440p 144 fps.

Idk if anyone is addressing this though, a 1070 should be able to run 1440p with medium settings on 99% of games

1440p is NOT the same as 1440 Ultrawide.

Not that big of a difference though right?

No. 1440p is 2560 * 1440. 1440 UWHD is 3440 * 1440. It's basically the difference between running two 1080p monitors and three.

Ah ok my bad. Still a 1070 should work, possibly some nvidia settings to work around it? idk
