I had an unusual up for sale and i still do. I got a notification about a friend request on steam. I was eagerly waiting for such notification. Well he had a very basic conversation that completely gave off that he was scamming. Thanks to the trading videos that i have seen, i was able to catch it, well i am pretty new to trading so it was a victorious moment for me haha.

This post is for the person whom this guy is impersonating. He is named 'nudge'. If you are seeing this, be careful and i dont know what counter measure you can take now. I dont have his URl for profile etc, as i was on mobile app and at work, could only take the screenshot. I also had blocked and reported him already, so cnat get back to him. If someone can tell me the way to retrieve the profile url, i will post it here or any other advise as well.Screenshot_20190211-163812.thumb.jpg.12d5c56996af30ec0e958aed88ee6ecf.jpg

Rule #1 of trading: if someone adds you randomly without commenting on your profile beforehand, don't accept it.

99% of random adds are scammers. Any trader worth trading with will know better than to add you without explaining himself.

Good catch though. I got scammed once that way. You handled it better than I did for sure.

  • The impersonator is targeting other people so the impersonated ("nudge") is not in danger and doesn't need to (and can't anyway) do anything.
  • A lot of scammers do the impersonation automatically: you leave a comment on someone's profile, scammer's software instantly "grabs" that account name and avatar and then "adds you back to discuss". Which means now he's "nudge" and next minute he's someonel else.

Finally, I don't know about Steam Mobile Auth but even if you don't have your computer nearby you should be able to log into https://steamcommunity.com/  in your mobile browser and then use

Hahahahahaha, I believe the same dude added me the other day. When he asked the last question that you also got, I just kept replying with "yes" and "ok" until he in the end got impatient and VERY angry. Feels so good to waste these guys' time.

.it should get reported somewhere right?

Not in this case as the account is already SteamRep-marked.

Use https://rep.tf by copy-pasting either profile URL or just the last part.

If the profile doesn't have custom profile name and you already have SteamID (18 digits) then you could also simply paste it into backpack.tf search bar.

Through this i got this profile url https://steamcommunity.com/id/765611975743263263...it should get reported somewhere right?..like in a scammer's list or rep tf something

BTW if the link has /id/ in it, it's not a permalink, its their custom url, and they can change that URL at any time.

Here's a permalink version: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198853173978

You want a /profiles/ link for a permalink

Lol, I looked into their comment section, more than half of those "+repping" users in my blacklist. Just another alt of the alt of the alt... Sadly Vavle still don't give a duck about scammers who have a tons of complaints with evidence against them. Like this trash from Ukraine (at least he said that, and he speak russian), who bragging about how much money he dealt in csgo scam. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198327217119 (idem, in the subject's comments)

Sure Valve is able to see who are alts by network/hardware/etc.
