Selling on scm is already the fastest way.

if you want to lose less to tax, you can try converting your keys into marketable cosmetics then selling those.

prices are usually higher on those items to offset taxes

He wants cash, not gift card value that can only be used to purchase games he most likely wont play :D

edit: misread. I'd say @Mokky or @Scott Bakula have the best methods. btw, try to do this quickly, keys and all marketable items will plummet even further down in value on SCM as soon as the Christmas sale drops

-sell on marketplace.tf

-withdraw your funds to paypal

-withdraw from paypal to your credit/debit card

-purchase steam funds with your card

both valve and mp.tf charge 10% fees for each sale you you'll be losing either way.

I thought Steam charges 20% for fees, was it changed?

There is a "Steam Fee" which is 5%, but there are also "game specific fees" for Dota2/CSGO/TF2 (each at 10%).

Ah okey, so it's 15 percent then? That's still higher then marketplace, I'd stick to there if you want cash without doing direct paypal trades.

Please just no.

First off, you don't have 10% fees in both cases.  MP.tf = 10% commission (commission =/= tax; it is slightly more than a 10% tax would be) whereas selling on the SCM means a 15% tax.  If you do the math, the seller's share of the sale price is 86.96% SCM vs. 90% on mp.tf.

However, that doesn't mean you should use mp.tf to convert keys to SCM funds.  Key prices aren't the same price in both places because the two places don't use the same currency--mp.tf uses real money, whereas Steam uses wallet funds.  Assuming they're worth the same is like assuming arcade tokens are worth $0.25 because you pay $0.25 for them.

You'd get ~$1.64 * 0.9 per key = 1.47 right now by selling on mp.tf, and if you just load that into your steam wallet, it's 1.47 SCM per key.

Selling straight on the SCM would get you ~2.18 * .87 (rounded)  = 1.90 SCM per key.

Summary of all that: selling your keys on the SCM isn't really losing out on money; it's the baseline method.  Other methods can be found (such as turning keys into marketable cosmetics or KS weapons and selling those) that yield increased funds, but they will take more time and effort.
