duckDecoy
Hi I upgraded my iphone and restored an image of my old iphone onto it. Transferred the sim so the number is the same. The steam authenticator app is present on the new phone, and the steam guard "codes" work when I need them if I manually go into the app. However what isn't happening is the automatic notifications. For example when i go to log into the Steam website it sends the code notification to my old phone rather than my new phone. I tried turning my old phone off in case that was the cause, but it never sends them to my new phone. How can I activate my new phone as the "main" steam authenticator app? I'm happy to delete the app from the old phone if needed, but wondered if there was another way. Cheers
Vision
You need to disable the authenticator on the old phone, to do so: 1. Go into the app 2. Open the sidebar 3. Select Steam Guard 4. Select Remove Authenticator 5. Press the Remove Authenticator confirmation button. After that enable the steam authetificator on the new device and you're good to go. Now be warned, doing this will give you 15 day trade holds for the next 7 days after switching devices, so after a week you'll be able to trade normally again. How do I enable it on the new device? All I can see if "Remove Authenticator" on the new phone. Or perhaps will this change once I remove authenticator on the old phone? D.Alex
I would completely disregard the advice above and try transfer Mobile Auth the correct way, with 2-days "soft" trade hold, instead of afaik 15 (and not 7) days. To "fix" the Steam app on the new phone I would first try to log out/log in again, and if that doesn't work I would reinstall the app.
