Banned4Lyfe Posted January 10, 2018 Share Posted January 10, 2018 BACKSTORY: As of recently there has been a bot floating around backpack.tf making suggestions and changing the prices of items that they have never owned. The bot is doing this by submitting unsubmitted trades made between two completely different participants without any information about the trade, such as if the item is discounted, being gifted, or even just a good deal to a friend or somebody nice. Due to the bot or possibly human not knowing any of the behind the scene information or details, he is causing items to be priced at discounted and lower prices. I am experiencing this first hand as I had in the past befriended a guy with an unusual that I really liked, over the time that we had been friends he saw how much that I really liked the hat and decided to give me a discount of about 20K for it due to our growing friendship. I have now owned the hat since 2017-11-27 according to backpack.tf, the bot made the suggestion 5 days prior to this post. Along with changing the price for my hat, the bot also changed the price of the hat I traded my friend for. At the time of doing the trade I was giving my friend 128K - 148K in mixed items for a discounted 146K unusual. CONCLUSION: I am making this post to find out if this is a thing that is allowed or not. If it is not allowed then help me by spreading this post around. This is not against the rules, this is exactly how every price suggestion on backpack.tf is made. Someone finds sales of an item, and they use this as proof for their suggestion. Obviously we can't accept a suggestion with just one sale, you need to prove that the single sale was not an outlier because like you say; sometimes hats are sold for less than their value because of friendship or other special scenarios. However, in this case the accepted suggestions had multiple sales to back them up. Since there were multiple sales that suggested that the price of these hats should go down, they were acccepted.
