Spell Effects: What is their value?

Hey Everyone!

I've been trading for a while and know some of the values of item add-ons (such as paint and level numbers), but I have recently realized something that I haven't been able to easily find an answer: items with spell effects attached.

Items with added paint are fairly easy to price and are generally accepted as an actual plus-value attribute.  Level numbers are more of a niche group and are sometimes considered as a plus-value to the right buyer.  Spell effects, however, seem to escape my research.

  • Are spell effects generally accepted as a plus-value attribute to the community as a whole?
  • If so, is there a guide or general opinion as to the value added by a spell effect to an item?
  • Are there stats somewhere that show the general availability of items with spells?
  • What is the demand for spell items?
  • Were the same spells available in both 2012 and 2013?
  • Has this topic been discussed recently or somewhere else that I just totally missed?

Thank's in advance for helping out this spell-trading noob!   ^_^

Joe.

spells don't really do anything--don't worry about 'em.

Pre-Halloween 2013 spells could be applied and seen in game (and the paints were several keys). In 2013 they were re-released, and disabled after halloween. So they're now worthless.

They still work on halloween/full moon. :)

Hey!

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah, I think that is part of my problem: people don't seem to know that spell items are still able to show their abilities during full moons and Halloween events (when someone uses Eternaween, enables Halloween on that particular server, and Halloween itself).  I've played on servers with each of these options enabled and noticed that people do seem to pull out their Halloween-only gear when they can.

I know I am looking for Halloween and spell-effect items.  The items part is easy, but I just don't know how to value spell-effects.  Does the market pay more for a Spectral Spectrum Bill's Hat or Flipped Trilby?  I haven't been able to find out yet.  Are there guides somewhere that can help?

Thanks again and have a great day!!  ^_^

Essentially people wont pay extra for it, so you shouldnt either.

At most you'll get an extra scrap maybe if you're lucky, paint effects which can only be seen on a full moon arent worth much at all. they were only worth that much before as the glitch allowed it to be seen 24/7

My current engie load out is: pro rescue ranger, spec carb wrench with the hollowed spell on it. I think it adds a little more fun to game and it gets good comments. I would bump the price for the spell and not care if people thought I was going too high.

I guess spell effects are like level numbers:  most people don't care but some people go bananas over it.  Of the spell-banana folks, is there a guide on what people pay for them when looking for an item?  Are some spells more rare than others?

Also taking a step back, I am confused on the origin of spell items.  I know they came out in 2012 and 2013, but did they same spells come out both times?  Were the spells originally removed from 2012 items and then allowed to stay for 2013 items?

Thanks again for your help!!  ^_^

Spells were released in 2012, then stayed on hats. In 2013 the same spells were re-released. It's really not ever going to be worth it to try and sell an item with a spell for a higher price. The little extra amount you can get is not worth the extreme long time it will take you to sell it
