Unladen Swallow
So I've got this CS:GO Knife (I know this is TF2 Economy but that's not relevant to my question) and someone offered me $180 through Paysafecard. I'm wondering if anyone on here has had experience using paysafecard, and if it's safe to use for cash trading. From what I understand it's basically a prepaid gift card? Seems a little sketchy. I'm not sure if he'd be able to send his paysafecard monies to my paypal account, or if he'd have to actually send me the 16-digit paysafecard pin. If it's the former case, can he chargeback just like he'd be able to normally through paypal? If it's the latter case, what assurance do I have that I can actually use the 16-digit code to add $180 to my steam wallet/paypal account? Any helpful tips or experience that any of you guys might have would be fantastic, I feel like I'm in pretty murky waters here.
Bakgrund
don't use paysafe, i.e don't accept the offer. Tell him that you want paypal or google wallet. Or ask him to buy keys for the money and pay you in keys instead.

AwesomeMcCoolName
i may be wrong; but i do believe paysafe can be dumped into paypal. Edit: nvm Don't accept it. Its really not worthwhile. You could ask him about moneypak though. Moneypak is a pre-paid gift card which you can be at drugstores throughout the US. He would give you a code which you would add to your paypal account (and it can NOT be charge backed). Once the code is redeemed on your paypal account its there forever. With that said, you also MUST have your SSN in your paypal profile to be able to accept moneypak. So, with the exception of Moneypak, any gift code is a bad idea to accept because the buyer can always use the code himself (so it could be valid when he gives it to you, but as soon as you confirmed that its a real code he could use it himself). Also, its worth mentioning that i'm not really familiar with paysafe, so it may be possible to create a paysafe account and then activate the code on that account (and then the code would essentially become deactivated since them money would no longer be attached to the code but rather your account). I'm not sure if thats how paysafe works, but it is a possibility.
Unladen Swallow
Woah, thanks for the quick replies dudes. He doesn't have a fantastically trustworthy looking profile. I'll ask him if he can make the payment through another source. The situation I envisioned would be: 1. He sends me through steam chat the 16-digit code 2. I use code to add monies to steam wallet IF IT WORKS, I then trade him the knife IF IT DOESN'T WORK, I would provide him with proof that my steam wallet didn't receive $180 and keep my knife. Would this be enough precaution to make it safer? I know paypal or google wallet would be way better but it looks like he may have already dumped his money into paysafe.. It might help to link his profile here. Quite a few people here are good at tracking down possible scammers
Unladen Swallow
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198061423929 His account's almost 2 years old, he has almost 50 games, and he's never been mentioned in any thread on SR.. That's about the extent of my scammer-checking knowledge. Would his intentions even matter if I took those precautions though?
✔ P I X E L A T E D ✔
Few things: Ask him to boot up a game, such as Saints Row, if its a stolen account he'll have to download it before he can play it. Is what he's paying high? I don't know the CSGO prices, but if its a "pretty good" deal, I would avoid. Is his CSGO backpack good, its unlikely someone with a poor backpack would want such a item. Possibly ask him can we do it, for example, in two days. Scammers act fast, and will likely say no, although this is not the greatest way of detecting them, as he could honestly just not want to wait. This is up to your interpretation. Unladen Swallow
Alright, thanks a lot guys! Especially you pixel, that's some great scammer-finding advice. It doesn't look like I can transfer paysafecard to steam wallet or paypal, so I don't think I'm even going to bother.
