Scammer alert?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

today this guy added me: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198095250293/. He wanted to buy my unusual vivid plasma towering pillar of hats. The following conversation happened then, like you can see it in the jpg files.

So did I everything right? This is my second unusual, so I don´t have much experience in unusual trading and the rules. And do I have to do now anything (like reporting or something else? I allready reported him at steam under the point "attempted trade scam") to protect other community members from this guy?

Thanks for any advice and help.

Have a nice day all!

Best regards

What a turd..

rep.tf is a nice site if you want to check if someone scammed before.

"My friend at Valve needs to verify your items" is one of the oldest scams out there.

Thanks guys, good to know this stuff :) I will stay careful in future.

By the way: do you think that 30 keys pure for an unusual pro ks (flames and violet) hot brain candy pistol (field tested) is a good deal? I have no experience with unusual weapons. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Best regards

If you are planning to keep it, it's probably a fair deal. If you expect to profit from it, not a good idea.

Bloody hell, what is up with these guys? I have my first 2 unusuals now for not even two days and right now this guy added me too: http://steamcommunity.com/id/AndrewSmurfingSafely/. He wanted that I log in at opskins to check if my items are marketable. I did, but I don´t have any experience with opskins, so I got suspicious and I checked his steam.rep like you guys said, but he had a false link at his profile from the real Andrew: http://steamcommunity.com/id/toy205/ . On this profile i saw, that he has not any second account. I removed the other guy instantly, but I forgot to take screenshots of the chat, my fault :( :( :( Is there now any danger left for me, because I logged in at opskins and gave him my trade URL? I am so bloody naive...

If all you did was log in to opskins and give him your trade URL, you are fine. The trade URL just means he can send trade offers to you, which was part of his scamming attempt. Opskins is a legitimate website, however he would most likely impersonate an OPskins bot and try to get you to send your unusuals to him to "confirm" they can be sold on opskins. This is a relatively common type of scamming, but tends to happen more in csgo

Quick thing I notice to the guys passing by-

I happen to notice that all scammers usually end off EVERYTHING they say in "sir" or "bro" or "man" and use it excessively.

I always get super cautious whenever this happens.

Thanks for all the help and answers guys!

My previous experiences with unusual trading are just very frustrating. I bought 3 unusuals to get into unusual trading (I know, in retrospect these deal weren´t great), but I only got added by 7!!! guys, who wanted to scam me on different ways (the last one was a guy who pretended to be a backpack.tf bot, which has to secure suspicious unusuals, lol). That´s just kinda depressing, but I will go on and try my luck :)

Thanks again and have a nice day!

Tends to happen when you are new. After a while, scammers just know they are wasting their time and cough cough sharkers, which lurk these forums.
