Hello im HugMyAxe and i have been falsely accused of scamming someone named Shadowbro ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198196727109/) him and his friends went on steam rep and tried to report me ( http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198061692611-tf2-team-fortress-2-items.152175/ ) and one of there friends named (ISIS) Flan ( http://steamcommunity.com/id/inshahallahhhh/ ) added me asking for 5 keys so he could gamble and if he lost them he would give me his 2 unusuals (a obvious scam) when i called him out on it he said i scammed one of his friends, so i asked who his friend was and he said to check my steam rep didnt see anything unusual but he sent me a link to the report (as seen above) and theres a report on me by a guy named Fireninja ( http://steamcommunity.com/id/FireNinja245 ) which i have never met before i scroll down and it says i have scammed shadowbro and it shows the items i bought from him through paypal.  what should i do?

I have question related to topic. Is there any way to punish someone for false scam report? (intentional of course not mistake one)

That would actually be nice to know

This stuff happens all the time, just trying to bully people into doing what they want under the fear of reports. Just don't take shit from anybody and you'll be fine.

Yeah I think the shit they pulled off is definetely reportable. It wastes the mods' time and is an actual attempt at harming someone's trading life on no basis. Jesus can people be dicks.

You could maybe report this to steamrep as an "Any other fraudulent behavior" since they tried to blackmail you with a FAKE report. You could also leave a negative rep on their bp.tf profiles.

Edit: im confused though if you don't know this person how come a lot of things of value went to your bp directly after his? http://backpack.tf/item/5101648155

Its also interesting that you seem to have a history of obtaining stuff for paypal then being accused to not coming through, but its always people that don't know how to make a coherent report. You also have 0 trusts to validate your paypal trades.

That's not how rep works on this site.

And this is why we have such strict evidence requirements. For all the complaints we get about closing people's reports for insufficient evidence, if we relaxed our standards and made exceptions it would catch innocent people in the crossfire. For future reference, we have a straightforward guide on what to do if you're reported:

Not exactly punish - it's mostly to keep bogus reports away and warn people they'll try doctoring screenshots early on - but I guess in the minds of many people here it's kind of the same thing. A single (proven) fake report is enough for a scammer tag, and this is explained in the above guide I linked. In addition, if someone is caught fake reporting then all of their alts are permanently blocked from making any more scam reports in the SteamRep forums, and a special private note is added to their profile to prevent partner communities from taking their reports seriously. I glanced at the report against you, and while it has some warning signs common in fake reports (mostly unused/non-trader profile, victim/reporter profiles don't match), there's not enough to prove fake evidence, so nothing we can really do in this case. He hasn't made any other threads, so there's no consistent trend to research, and his alt has never logged into the SteamRep forums before.

What happens at SteamRep is if a bunch of people report you, it suggests you may be on a mass scamming spree, and your reports will be looked at sooner to try and curb it. If all the reports are useless, the worst that'll happen is sites like Outpost will preemptively ban you until they're resolved and people will be uneasy dealing with you in the meantime. It won't get you marked. This mass-report-to-trade-ban thing used to happen once in a while, but I think Steam Support has gotten better at recognizing fake reports and impersonation cases in the past year or so. It's been a while since we had a middleman banned.

Blackmail itself falls outside the scope of SteamRep's investigative policy, but if you have evidence of being blackmailed with fake reports intended to maliciously harm your reputation, you should provide those when a report against you is made. Although we don't investigate blackmail, it's a significant piece of evidence when chasing down fake reporters.

This reminds me of when I had an impersonator and I got a bunch of reports against me because I was obviously the one attempting middleman scamming. Steamrep didn't deal with the reports for 6 months until I directly spoke to the admins to get them to declare them invalid. Just annoying more then worrying.
