Setting up a desktop only for emulators and looking for suggestions on games

Recommended Posts

My time to shine.

I grew up with a decent amount of these games. I like to think I know what I'm talking about.

So, in no particular order, here goes nothing.

Nintendo DS -

Any pokemon game, especially HG/SS or B/W 2

Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass

LoZ - Spirit Tracks

Kirby Mass Attack

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (/summon bacondrinker)

Mario Kart DS

Mario & Luigi - Partners in Time

New Super Mario Bros

Rhythm Heaven (If it runs well)

Gameboy Advance -

Kirby & the amazing Mirror

Super Mario Advance 2

Super Mario Advance 3

Super Mario Advance 4

LoZ - Minish Cap

LoZ - A Link to the Past

Fire Emblem

WarioWare Inc: Mega Microgame$
Metroid Fusion

GameCube -

LoZ Twilight Princess

LoZ Wind Waker

Luigi's Mansion

Super Mario Sunshine

Mario Kart: Double Dash

Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door

Pokemon Colosseum

Super Monkey Ball

F-Zero GX
Super Smash Bros Melee (Not as good on an emulator, honestly)

I've only played them in emulators, but if you're planning on getting one for the NES or SNES too...

NES -

Mega Man 2

Battletoads (If you hate yourself)

Kid Icarus

Dr Mario

Kirby's Adventure

Legend of Zelda

Super Mario Bros 3 (If you go for this, scratch SMA4 from the gameboy, it's the same game)

Yoshi's Island (See above, except with SMA3)

Super Mario World (See above, except with SMA2)

Megaman X

Expand Dong Country

LoZ - A Link to the Past

Can't recommend anything for the playstation or xbox. Haven't used those for nearly as long as any of the others.

What can I say, I'm a nintendo fanboy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For playstation you should look into the Final Fantasy and Crash Bandicoot titles, I'm totally unbiased when I say those are the best ps1 titles.

First and foremost, I have to recommend Castlevania games before anything else, they're so damn good.

Do you like platformers and RPGS? Then you'll like my list. Here's some of my recommendations, including some off-the-beaten path ones:

Mega Man 1-6

Journey to Silius

Blaster Master

Castlevania I and III

Super Castlevania IV

Secret of Mana

Kirby Superstar

Kirby's Dream Course

Umihara Kawase (it's japan-only but there's no reading required since it's a physics platformer)

Kid Chameleon fucking love this game

Castlevania Bloodlines

Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Persona 2 (there are two games, but you need a translation patch to play the first one, Innocent Sin)

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

Fire Emblem

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Wario Land 4

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (you get to play as Soma, who is Batman)

Ninja Five-O

Really you could just put the whole library on the computer with the older systems. Until you get to the Playstation/N64 era, you're looking at 2-3 gigs max for a complete library.
