polar Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 A full rationale for the buds suggestion was provided in the cooldown thread. The mods had a full discussion about the matter and we felt that while it is important to maintain the cooldown, we also don't want the website to generally reflect highly inaccurate values. If buds are listed on the website at 17 but are selling at 19, we are doing a disservice to the community. The cooldown is still in effect and 3 suggestions have been closed today. But telling the community that their valued at 17 is just not fair to the people who then sell at 17 only to be sharked by buyers who will resell them at 19-20.
♠Derpeh♤ Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 You do realise that the last 2 suggestions for the buds were closed because of he cool down right? Did you just conveniently ignore that or...
AwesomeMcCoolName Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 But telling the community that their value at 17 is just not fair to the people who then sell at 17 only to be sharked by buyers who will resell them at 19-20.Not sharked, but agreed. The rationale behind a cooldown is to stop constant small changes which forces the price of buds up. Well, in this case its no longer a small change, its a rather large one and not updating it ends up being a big problem. Also, the cooldown rule also allows for suggestions if there is a big change in the market--which there was--i.e. halloween/the huge demand to unbox ending.
Baloo Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 The whole point of backpack.tf is to attempt to keep track of the current average values of all items in TF2. If you honestly think it would be best to have kept the site at 17 keys when people are buying at an upwards of 20 keys, then I suggest you reassess yourself and your judgements.

"Backpack.tf sucks, you're listing outdated prices and leading new traders to making terrible trades...you need to keep prices up to date." Is there no end to the hypocrisy in this community....

AwesomeMcCoolName Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Why did you lose faith in the community? "Best Steam Conversations" Any Key/Bud suggestion Every illiterate asshole Every dumbass who expects you to overpay when he's offering his crap on your items People who accuse you of "scamming" because you ask for more/offer less than the "normal" price Hypocrites who complain about bptf when it shows the correct price (less than what they want), but praise it when the prices are over-inflated above their buyouts Scammers/hijjackers/phishers/etc...
KoDoRiN Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I was meaning backpack.tf but that works too.
Julia Gillard the Honest Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Here's a suggestion, FOLLOW YOUR OWN RULES. Not when its convient to do so. When you have cooldown rules ENFORCE THEM. -A Former Supporter, Now A Hater Of Your Site. I looked into your Outpost trades. http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/13240775 It looks like they were your last sold buds that you listed, which you seem to have sold quite some time ago. Have you been massively moving a heap of buds at seventeen keys within the last day or something? If you did lose a significant amount then that would definitely be your own fault for not researching before such a large trade. If, however, you only sold a couple of buds at most then you wouldn't have lost very much value (a few keys). I therefore have a strong feeling that you're actually upset because your backpack isn't valued as highly in earbuds now (since you've currently got unusual hats). The earbuds' change has been explained many times. The last couple of days have simply been exceptional and warranted this.
