There
I don't know if we're thinking of the same idea. My idea is: Victim goes to phishing site. Gets an email with a sg code, steam logs the ip adress that he requested the sg code on. Enters the code and he won't get logged in (?) The phisher tries to sign in, he won't be able to do so tho because he's not entering the code from the same ip-adress that the sg code got requested through. Wouldn't that work? No. The SG code is requested through the phisher's computer.

Vegan T-Rex
I can't believe the guy who unwillingly bought them from the hijacker, who was them told about the hijacking, actually had the nerve to sell them off. Isn't there a rule against that?

Isn't there a rule against that? Theres no rule. I wouldn't necessarily want that crap on my account longer than need be. And even if he didn't sell them, how would that matter? Valve isn't going to reverse any trades anyway. They're just going to end up duping them.

KingOfHeart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk_FuCdNC8g If you fear scammers, check my series out. I do my best to show you many ways to protect yourself. You fell for the most common phish scam. Why should the buyer be punished. If he bought those items fair and square, it's his to do whatever he wants with it. The only way he should be punished is if he bought the items on purpose, knowing it was stolen. Spyromancer
I did fall for a phish, but in my defense it was a well executed one while I was tired and used to steam being really buggy. The guy who phished me had previously traded with me, so it may have been passed on from him Also, in reply to the above: the guy who bought the ghosts yellow belt and flies bubble pipe the second time was fully aware that they were stolen goods. What do you propose to do about him?
KingOfHeart
Purposely buying could be enough to be marked on steamrep. Well executed? You mean like this "Hey, um my friend can't add you, could add him? His Link is this" This line is so common now, I think most are just copying and pasting. What do you propose to do about him? There is nothing you can do, it would certainly be quite unfair to the buyer if he/she really was unaware that it was hijacked as they still paid for the goods. You can keep a close eye on him and if he buys more hijakced you can easily get them marked on steamrep. Assuming they look at the report... F CHARLIE
It was because steam got to many complains about the new system since some people logged on either on another computer or their phone and it locked their account so they changed it back. That happened to me and they did not restore my ability to trade before the 15 days.
advicebanana
The scammer seems to be notorious. Here is a log entry for phishing site registered with the same email and IRL address: http://www.phishtank.com/phish_detail.php?phish_id=1777810&frame=details Don't Russian police have a web form for submitting tips? whopz
I'm so glad I found this thread. I unfortunately bought 3 hats from that phisher that belong to Swag[inc]. As soon as I found out, I took all trades down and added Swag immediately. Since then, I've been banned from TF2OP and bazaar.tf without even getting a chance to explain myself. My appeal on OP was ignored and I'm being called a Russian item launderer/phisher/scammer on bazaar, even though I never use the site. If anyone can advise as to how I should proceed, it would be much appreciated. I spent all my pure on those hats and now I'm being banned from websites and I really don't know what to do.
