Anime- Watch or nah?

Not Applicable

Recommended Posts

Title.

I've never really looked near it, and tbh I find those who watch it a little bit odd.

But anyway, I've been bored recently.

From your own personal experiences, should I watch it? What would you recommend?

Thanks m80s

Yesss go for it, and anime recommendations sort of vary from person to person, so here are a list of decent at least anime I've seen in a few genres:

If you like slice of life stuff (ie. Highschool, college, etc), try Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo

If you like mystery and a hella story with a little bit of life mixed in: Durarara

If you don't mind a little gore for a hell of a story: Parasyte: The Maxim

If you enjoy gore, and wouldn't mind seeing lots of it for a rather deep meaning story: Tokyo Ghoul or Future Diary comes to mind

If you enjoy comedies, My Bride is a Mermaid was great, and I've heard good things about Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou too.

(ofc these arent all of the genres, just a few I've seen)

What you should do is play those anime comic games, those are great. Try Highschool Romance and Possession and also Go! Go! Nippon.

The Soma is Batman guide to chinese girl cartoons

Make sure you've got a half hour of free time a day or so that you can dedicate, anime can be a timesink.

A lot of people will recommend being super picky in your taste from the start, but I disagree. No matter what your first show is, you're probably going to really like it, simply because of a lack of exposure to other stuff. Popular entry level shows include Attack on Titan, Death Note, and Code Geass.

Once you've finished watching your entry show, just try to keep watching stuff. Find some shows that seem interesting or up your alley, and just watch them through (myanimelist.net is a great discovery site and also good for logging what you've seen).

Eventually, you'll have amassed a decent amount of shows and start getting disenfranchised with anime, denouncing a lot of the stuff you've watched as trash. Whether you're right or wrong, it's all subjective. Anyways, at this point, watch Cowboy Bebop, get your faith in animu restored, and acquire patrician taste.

My animu recs after you've watched Cowboy Bebop would include: The Tatami Galaxy, FLCL, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and Concrete Revolutio.

Once you feel sufficiently pretentious in your anime taste, it's time to enter avant-garde anime hell. These shows may seem bizarre and meaningless upon first watching, but they are actually the pinnacle of anime.

Give it a whirl, it really varies on the anime.
I'd recommend first watching some movies, the studio ghibli ones are really good.

If you don't enjoy a series or film just don't watch it, don't force yourself to enjoy it.

I'd say you're pretty good if you haven't seen it and still function like a nornal human.

then that makes everyone that didn't watch anime normal humans

I never watched anime because it's too dumb, plus I hate the shit lip sync that's on every anime, it's just 2 frames on the mouth being switched

tldr anime is like gay porn, love it or hate it, it's there

Watched Death Note like a few years ago, wasn't aware i watched one of my favorite animes so far.

I really dislike the overexaggerated stuff like skimpy clothes or face expressions like one piece .. not my type.

But yes, imagine finding a gold nugget in a bucket of turd, you just have to search the best out there and leave it at that, like Hellsing Ultimate, clannad, attack on titan, fate/zero/stay night, code geass (yes it has skimpy clothes i know.. piss off), berserk, full metal alchemist:brotherhood (jesus fuck how can i forget that, thanks pomme), one punch man and others .

I really suggest you watch One Punch Man at the very end where you have nothing to watch, because its a satirical anime that makes fun of the other ones, and you have to know the other ones first in order to enjoy it more.

Other than that, if you're that insecure for watching cartoons at your age and fear the backlash of other people, then stick to whatever you're comfortable with, or stop giving a shit and just do what you want.

Watch it but don't tell anybody you know irl about it.

I'd start off with Code geass, it was my first anime.

nah you dont want something complicated and political like code geass, a great starting point is soul eater, full metal alchemist or sword art online. Have simple stories and great characters, great to get into anime with.

Good that no one has posted the Cory in the House anime meme.

Find a site which has a list of anime, scroll down and pick one at random.

Just because it's complicated doesn't mean it's bad.

Code Geass is the only anime I've enjoyed. It's good for the reasons you said it was bad, at least in my mind.
