Paints pricing confusion?

Ayy, just really confused, did I miss something?

How come Black and White UNCRAFT paints are worth 10-14 ref each? Do these uncraft paints do something to hinder an item? Supposedly they don't affect the craftability of an item, so what gives? What did I miss? The paints are still worth $5 each on the Mann Co Store, but are $1.80 on SCM, what??

Either there's something wrong with uncraft paints or the community is having a backlash against these paints because they're uncolorful, or something I don't actually see/understand.

Of course it could also just be different markets, but seriously, it's paint, uncraft and craft shouldn't truely make a difference, it's like having two identical looking shirts made from the same exact material but one has "Brand A" marked on the tag and the other has "Brand B" marked on it.

Anyone mind shedding some light on this for me?

(Although I'm pretty happy about it, it means I can save big on those paints in the future)

Uncraftable means it was purchased form the store.

These paints were recently on sale for like 80% off or so in the Mann Co. Store

Uncraft are a lot more common than craft.

A Mann Co Store Sale brought paint (and other item's) prices down - some to 75%. Most people were investing but some are just quickselling their stuff and so, caused the huge drop from 2 keys to 10-14 refined for Tinge and Hue paint.

Ah right, forgot about that, didn't pay attention to the store aside from checking Mann Up tickets.

Thanks m8s, I should stock up on those from people selling them then and perhaps after a couple months make a decent profit.

I've also heard that craftable black/white paint is more desirable for the purposes of betting (lotto, etc.)

Lotto uses SCM prices. Uncraft and Craft Tinge + Hue share the same SCM page, so it wouldn't work on the Lotto.

Sweetstakes might work if it uses bp.tf prices.

Yeah good idea, once the sale ended they quickly went up from $1.25ish and are now at $1.75ish and rising. I quick sold a lot of items on the scm and bought around 1000 paints :)

People bought a ton of paints -> paint supply went up. Demand didn't change (people didn't suddenly start painting everything black and white) -> prices went down.
