do you mean what game gave the item(s) that is/are the most expensive now?  or most expensive at the time of release/tradability

Alright so from what I gathered from the Wiki and bp.tf

Most expensive game-granted item: Max's Severed Head (No surprise here)

Most expensive Steam-related item: H.O.U.W.A.R. (Anyone know what happened to them since gift wrap scandal?)

Most expensive Misc. item (Products, etc.): Genuine Nabler (There's no price on the TF2VRH so I can't get a price on it, but I suspect it doesn't go for the 50+ the Nabler goes for because of its collector quality

I forgot to mention, there are technically more expensive items in the form of glitched Vintage Items, for example, the Vintage Alien Parasite and Vintage Ressurection Associate Pin. However, despite them being technically from a game, they're just glitches.

time of release would be real hard to say, but right now;

maybe witcher 2

back in the day the genuine maul used to be kinda expensive

edit:  forgot big kill and max's head, but wasn't sure if you were asking besides those

I'm a little too lazy to add up the SCM prices for each item to figure out which game gives the most, but I think these are the games that gave the most current value.  as to at time of release, hard to say, personally I don't even bother looking up new genuines 'cause I know they'll drop a bunch if I wait a couple weeks.  I'm also ignoring all special event items, physical merchandise code items, promotionals, that sorta thing 'cause those aren't from steam games.  also ignoring batman items 'cause it's too early for that

ignoring bptf price for the most part 'cause a lot of genuines go for more on the SCM, ex: g. point and shoot, would have to pay 3keys to get one on SCM, if you were to sell at that would get probs. 2.5 ish after fees, but bptf has it priced at 2.2

I presume you mean the Vintage Companion Cube Pins and they weren't a glitch, they were awarded to people who got to playtest Portal 2 at PAX 2010.
