JayTuut Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I think yes, the only CON would be that in unusual suggesting, when pricing a hat, that maybe was gifted a month ago (but not anymore) and therefore sold for a % off the regular price, would maybe go down for that matter. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Mmm, but if it was listed on Outpost, it would show as being gifted. Only flaw with that reasoning
Apo Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Yes, because now I can buy more hats that aren't gifted. No because hats will fall.
Deku Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 @OP yes because I was able to buy the spellbound Belgian since you didn't like it being gifted :^)
JayTuut Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 All dem rare high tier hats, that have like 4 in existence and 3 of them are gifted (and the 1 clean never sells)... will now sell and get prices and be good once again
rafiozol Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 the possibility of having houwar or summer shades without gift tag is always nice
Bobsplosion Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 @OP yes because I was able to buy the spellbound Belgian since you didn't like it being gifted :^) I did the same thing, but oh well. Not like I could have seen this coming.
Ravenholmzombies Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Collector's KE finally returns to its former glory, so I'm saying it's a very good thing.
jus Ign@nt Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Is it confirmed that the entire 'gifted by' is removed or just the name of the gifter?
Happysedits Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 yes no more minis on gifted unusuals in suggesting :3
Katzz Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Valve did something nice ? I think it's a sign of a apocalypse coming in ....
Mindacos Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Is it confirmed that the entire 'gifted by' is removed or just the name of the gifter? Can confirm that the whole "gifted by" thing is removed after trying it on my electrostatic geisha(before losing it on sweetstakes :c). Only outpost tracks unusuals as previously gifted, which shouldn't matter much in the incoming future.

Tasty Salamanders Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Yes. I wouldn't buy a gifted Unusual anyhow even with a discount. Now I would because who cares I can just remove it.
AiR²³ Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Can confirm that the whole "gifted by" thing is removed after trying it on my electrostatic geisha(before losing it on sweetstakes :c). Only outpost tracks unusuals as previously gifted, which shouldn't matter much in the incoming future. Outposts also lists fresh items that go through the giftapult as gifted, even after you wipe them. So they don't track old unusuals but all items as gifted. If you put them on SCM, no trace of any previous gifting shows up, at all.
Litwick Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Ofc this is good. The reason gifted's were priced cheaper was because you had that ugly as fuck red text on your unusual, often with random, shitty names or [unknown] as the gifter. It wasn't like being duped where the text was hidden away on a 3rd party site, it actually had an impact on the item's hover information. If I had the choice between two unusuals of similar price, and one was gifted, I'd rather get the non gifted one unless the gifted one was cheaper. Now there's no worries about that, I can get any item I want without worry about the gross text on it. Edit: changed wording because some people are snippy, pedantic smart alecks.

"Impact on the items appearance" I didn't know it had a new unusual effect, with "gifted by gabe's sweaty socks" hovering over your head for everyone to see as you try hiding from snipers. No wonder gifted was worth less.
E-Arkham Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 It's a very good change. Now some rare hats that I had previously refused to buy due to having gifted text are possible purchases again.
