WDZ-RR Poncho Sullivan Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 With the Steam Mobile Authenticator going into full effect within the next few hours, some troubling signs indicate that the authentication can be fully bypassed by a RAT. Moreover, this has the capability of switching the phone number associated with your account to another. https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comment..._guard_mobile/https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comment..._bypass_steam/Discuss
The Veteran Eagle Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Well crap, the system became useless before it even gets into full effect. Still, as long as we don't click phishing links and download those suspicious files and stuff, we should be safe, right? right?
Mole Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Well nice Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo-ing job Valve
Knight Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 10/10, would ask valve how to spend my money, then have them screw me over in the end again
Repose_ Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This was a pointless update anyhow. Not surprised anyways since RAT into phones has been around already for so long.
Budi Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 lol Valve sucks. Just go back to the old system of email authentication. Worked fine as it was, if you got scammed, you are a moron.

Baloo Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 First comment on first link shows OP is full of shit. Second link is someone being phished. You can try all you want, but unless you account-lock everything, people are inevitably going to click on a phishing link and get hijacked no matter what system is in place. People are blaming escrow for their own mistakes. No solution Valve puts out is going to be an end-all solution to phishing and hijacking.
