Is it justifiable to...

...Delete a -rep comment when the accusations are wrong? I refused to pay the price someone was asking because there wasn't anything in it for me, then they left a nasty "-rep scammer" comment on my profile.

It probably sounds stupid, but I'd like some opinions on this. Thanks!

No, I don't believe click-bait title's are justifiable.

Also this same person left me a negative rating on bp.tf, wonderful... Is there anything I can do about this?

Just report the rating.

And FYI, you have full control over your Steam profile, so do whatever you want with the comments that people leave, including stupid butthurt -reps like these.

Alright, I reported the negative rating explaining what happened and all, and I know deleting -rep comments is a bit dishonest, but this one wasn't fair.

Also I apologize for giving this thread a bit of a clickbait title, sorry guys :/

You could comment next to the -rep on your profile with your rebuttal if you want to be overly genuine.

But it's certainly justifiable to delete a comment calling you a scammer when you aren't one.

Can you tell us more about the 'incident'? Judging from your bp.tf profile I'd guess you had a buy order at X and

then counter offered with less when you received an offer at X?

I wouldn't have a problem with that so long as you then update your buy order.

I have experienced on bp.tf old buy orders magically reappearing with an old price :/

Alright, I'd c+p from my report but sadly I can't.

Anyways, on 12/4/2015, I created a buy listing on bp.tf for a Strange Spec KS Bat stating this, along with all of my other buy orders: "Currently buying this item for X (8) Refined Metal! The prices change constantly, so I may not be able to buy this item at the requested price all the time. Send me an offer on steam!" At the time I created that listing, the item was worth more than it is now, and I could afford to pay 8 refined metal for it.

On 12/5/2015, I was away for an entire day and couldnt find the time to update my prices, which resulted in some confusion with me and a few customers, but none of them reacted with it like this one did.

On 12/6/2015 (Morning) I was updating my prices when this guy sent me an offer on steam offering me the bat for 8 refined metal, I sent him a reply offering him 7 refined metal, because there wasn't anything in it for me if I bought it for 8 refined metal. Once I finished up with my listings, I left for church and came back to find a -rep on my profile and on bp.tf.

And that's why I'm here now, I found it a bit unjust on both of us that this happened.

(Was this a wall of text? I feel like this was a slight wall of text.)

EDIT: Yeah, any time I get offers at whatever and can't pay them, I update them on bp.tf with what I can pay after the person either accepts or declines, that way it doesnt look like I'm being dishonest or anything.

That's just plain stupid on the user's side. So, yeah, removing the -rep is justifiable. As for the negative rating, it'll be deleted in a few hours, assuming you already reported it.

I really hope it will be, my reputation matters very very much to me, and that negative rating put me in a state of panic. Thanks for your time everyone!

Not to mention, he's got a report against him on steamrep, so it'd be wise tbh.

EDIT: From 2013, but still it's a bit shady
