Buy my mixtape fam
So, I'm thinking of taking some of my paycheck for some keys in TF2, and while I know that marketplace.tf is a great option, I have seen that prices are significantly lower here on backpack.tf via cash trading. I've done my fair research and have been around the internet long enough to avoid scammers and to find a fair price for myself, and feel like I am ready to begin cash trading. I only have ~500 hours ingame, and have only been a steam member for 7 months, as TF2 is the only Steam game I play, so of course, I have 0 rep. How can I start off cash trading, when it seems like everybody wants rep? I've seen that acquiring a middleman is a viable option-how can I get one? Much appreciated edit: Also, do any experienced cash traders have any tips for me on what to expect? Thanks
Mengh.
You'll have to somewhat get into the reins of getting some rep by brokering but even before that, you have to start with having a suitable backpack and have premium status on several sites to aid your trading and your trust. Examples Premium on TF2Outpost Premium on Backpack.tf VIP status on Bazaar.tf Furthermore, I'd say that a middleman in cash trading is often just a waste of time. Chargebacks can occur, causing a chain of lost funds to occur and can cause you to lose money. Cash trading via paypal is the riskiest type of trading as these things can happen. AwesomeMcCoolName
For a MM you can ask pretty much anyone who has a mod/admin tag on SR (you can technically ask anyone you want...but someone with a mod/admin tag is actually reputable). SR MM: http://steamrep.com/list/M As for starting off....your best bet would be to sell items (either through a mm or by going first) and build up rep, and/or looking for sellers who don't require buyers to have rep. Amen
If you're using paypal, it helps to be verified (attach bank account to paypal). You'll probably find some ppl willing to sell keys to you, however it might be for more than the average price. Since you'll most likely be asked to go first, make sure you buy from someone who has been selling for a long time. Document chats, take screenshots, etc, if you want to when you do the trade. A middleman is pretty pointless, if someone were to buy from me and wanted to use a middleman, I would just decline. It's an added step I would rather not waste time with and doesn't really accomplish anything. All you have to do is make sure you're trading with someone who has something to lose if they decide to scam you. Although they probably won't be selling you many keys anyways as you're new. Дебра
Just find a trade, ask to buy a small amount of keys (5 - 10) and explain you have little rep. Repeat until you have bought enough keys from multiple different traders. You won't have every seller agree to sell you keys but if you agree to go first and verify your paypal you will find people willing to sell you a few keys. Lmf
there are plenty of key sellers out there that sell keys to no-reps with a restriction of amount of keys you can buy though. build up rep that way. get ~32 rep from buying small amounts, give it 6 months, and you should be a "trusted" paypal trader. most people will be able to trust you enough to conduct higher-amounts of trades without really fearing going second and getting scammerino'd or chargebacked. careful of chargebacks though. Pix Hecate
If your buying with paypal, your fine with a middleman, if your selling then its a lot more complicated....
Buy my mixtape fam
Thanks guys, think I got it. I just did my first ever purchase (22 keys for $1.85 each) and hopefully I can get more done in the future. Thanks everyone!

Always buy from the handful of 1.80 sellers, even if they are shady and shit, its not like they can chargeback or anything as long as you have a middleman. Zapperzz
I think all the above methods are insane. I simply went first in a very small cash trade with someone reputable where I BOUGHT some keys. He gave me positive rep on backpack.tf, since then I built up more by selling, not buying. Now I have enough to seem reputable. That 1 rep was enough to start out with
