ᴰᴶSn@@ke
Will it be unduped on the history, or stay the same? I just bought a duped stormy storm buccaneer's bicorne, since it was the only one on the market and it's one of my dream hats. I got it for 14 keys off and I love it so much. I think it's kind of ignorant when people get all cautious with dupes. A duped burning tc is still a burning tc.

Senpai Absol~
Still duped sadly, also a duped burning TC is quite a bit less than a normal TC
Apo
it's not duped anymore, since the dupe was deleted. backpack.tf might say its duped still but iit wouldn't be.

If there's only 1 item with a particular original item ID, it's not duped. If a dupe is created, there's 2 with the same original ID. If the duplicated one is deleted, then there's only one item with that original ID. There's no duplicates of that item anymore then.. So it would not be duped. No.

Does the hat change because of it? No.iirc lvl 1's are not cheaper because they're duped, but because there are literally more of them than any other level. 18x in fact. Not sure about lvl 7 though. Duped refers to a hat's origin, not its current state. It retains the title "duped" since that's how it was made - it was duplicated, not unboxed. Simply deleting its other identical copy doesn't make it any less so.
λngelღмander
I think deleting a duped item wouldn't remove the duped status on backpack.tf I've never seen someone delete a duped item, but I don't think backpack.tf knows the difference between deletion and a trade to a private backpack, so if you traded the dupe to a private backpack, I'm relatively sure backpack.tf would lose track of it (and still think the original was duped). Its origin would not be from steam support. It would be from an unbox. Both don't come from support.
Gren
>since that's how it was made no this is what would happen >duped hat is deleted >original one is the only one that still exists The original was unboxed. Its origin would not be from steam support. It would be from an unbox. Both don't come from support. The "original" one seized to exist once it was duplicated. Duplicating an item isn't just the same as making a copy. You can see this in the way the history behaves, i.e. both histories are merged after the duplication. So even when you don't trade the "original" hat, the history still grows with every trade of the other dupe and that history is reflected on the "original" as well. Thus, it isn't any longer the original, the original and the dupe are one and the same. I dunno, that's the way I see it anyway. It's a bit metaphysical...you can argue both sides. cares
>since that's how it was made no this is what would happen >duped hat is deleted >original one is the only one that still exists The original was unboxed. Its origin would not be from steam support. It would be from an unbox. Both don't come from support. Steam Support creates a perfect copy of the item, without changing its origin tag, so both have a 'found in crate' origin.
77777777777777777777777777
A hat is marked as duped on backpack.tf not because a duped copy of it exists, but due to the sole fact it was duplicated. If you kill some dude's twin, it doesn't change the fact they're replicas from each other.
