The new Muppets show is literally awful

So I just saw the new Muppets series for the first time, and I have to say I am appalled. For those of you that have seen the show, you know why. For those who have not, I will explain

Essentially, the new series on ABC is in the same style as The Office and Modern Family, i think the style is called a mockumentary. This is the first problem I have with it. The Muppets never needed to do what everyone else was doing; they did their own thing. Now it feels like the last thing that wasn't a tired cliche has become a tired cliche. As if that wasn't bad enough, the show is on the same adult caliber that Modern Family is. Kermit the Frog makes two sex jokes, and one of the members of Animal's band admits to being an alcoholic. This is the part that really really bugs me. Why do the Muppets need an adult edge? Why does Kermit the Frog need a sex life? How many kids tuned in to see the Muppets and heard that? Honest to God, I feel disgusted that the same frog that taught me how to count to fucking five is talking about "co-populating" with another pig. Oh, did i mention that? Theres a weird looking other female pig that Kermit dates in the show. Even the jokes that are innocent mostly fall flat. It just seems like a big travesty to me.

In conclusion, it is my opinion that Jim Henson is rolling in his grave and I need to watch the Great Muppet Caper twice to grab what is left of that piece of my childhood back.

What are your opinions on the new show? Post below.

>Literally awful

As opposed to figuratively awful?

But I'm in the same boat as deku. Didn't even know they were rebooting it.

Though in all fairness it's not easy to live up the the quality of the old muppet show.

They just can't come up with new ideas so they have to milk old ones.

The Muppets is more than an idea IMO. The worst part is that it isn't some corporate people trying to make everything modern. The creator of the show worked on six original Muppet movies with Jim Henson. I dont know how this even came to be.

@Weedoof

I just dont think The Muppets needed this adult edge. Thats what made them special to me.

Corporate greed has corrupted Cable (and ISPs). That's why I don't watch TV anymore unless it's either TWD, or Doctor Who. It's appalling how bad cable is. All the shows are remakes of the same thing with different names, news channels are misinformed and biased, cartoons are ABSOLUTE CRAP. You remember the good old days when cartoons made you want to get up out of bed early to watch them? Watch Uncle Grandpa or Steven Universe and you'll see how little effort they put into the content anymore.

Just watched it.

Not great, but you need to get past that they can't remake the original. That was another time, and what worked then wouldn't work now. The jokes aren't great, and a little adult, but it's not the worst. My biggest complaint is just Ms. Piggy is a bigger ass than usual.

I know they can't remake the original, but I dont think you're necessarily right on the second point. They really shouldn't have remade it all IMO if they were going to change the formula as much as they did.
