Your parents have failed you if you are watching gaming videos on Twitch and Youtube.

It's not just restricted to sports, basically anything we watch on TV can be compared to watching someone playing video games.

1 Why do people watch cooking commentaries instead of cooking themselves?

2 Why do people watch detective shows instead of being a detective themselves?

3 Why do people watch drama shows instead of getting involved in a drama instead?

4 Why do people watch cliche horror movies about some guys in a forest instead of going into a forest and experience the horror themselves?

5 Why do people watch some biologists capture dangerous animals instead of going into the wild and catching them themselves?

6 And finally, for the part where the guy compares gamers to someone going to a restaurant and watching someone else eat their food, that's technically what chefs do in restaurants. Why do they watch other people eat their food instead of eating them themselves?

That aside, the guy was rather funny. 10/10, would definitely try the Youtube Watch service. People are simply getting too salty over a comedian.

1. Because people want to actually learn to cook, not watch a guy overreacting when they throw a pan to the ground for the sake of entertainment

2. You're comparing a serious job that you will need to be involved in, having various possible degrees and school discipline depending on the country, to implicating yourself in a video game rather than watch it. You can easily buy or torrent a game in 5 minutes ... you can't be a detective in that amount of time.

3. Like #2, the amount of effort you make in order to be a detective or a drama actor (if that's what you meant) is way higher compared to playing a game for yourself.

4. People actually do go to trips in abandoned silos or forests or haunted places just for the sake of scaring or entertain themselves. Usually the scary cliche horror movies involved some sort of monster or a psychotic killer, which is why you rather watch the movie.

5. Yes because you sure want to risk your life on capturing an alligator instead of watching Steve Irwing do it, you sure want to inform yourself about animals and become a biologist instead of watching someone on tv ... the same base applies here like #2 and #3

6. They do eat their food that they are making, except Chefs make a living out of it because they are more skilled than others at making food. You don't make money by watching a guy play video games.

I can also say why play counter strike yourself when you can go defuse bombs and try your shot against ISIS members, but it wouldn't be too fair wouldn't it?

There are simply more important stuff rather than watch someone play video games that you can't make analogies off of them, and those analogies above are some of the unfair examples that i'm referring to. I do however agree with you that people really get too salty over trivial things.

Its just a new form of entertainment that people can enjoy it and other can make money off of it.

I feel like alot of the people who made the statements Jimmy read were people that were "Don't get mad at a video since its a parody" But when offense is taken to them they started acting like the person who just commented. Like I saw one of his other videos which was "Happy Fathers Day!" Where they would throw food coffee and other stuff at there dad while they are in the shower. They are no better then the people who would say "That food could have fed african children"

In other words, there are limitations that prevent people from doing these things themselves instead of simply watching it. Same thing goes for gaming, even if it's not as important as other aforementioned activities.

Oh noes this random dude said something I don't like, better get irrationally angry.

Why is the entire world so fucking sensitive these days? Why can nobody take a joke anymore? Comedians are meant to be offensive, jokes are supposed to be racist, discriminatory and rude. That's the whole fucking point of comedy, to point out the flaws in society

^

But meh. YouTube is one of the main people involved as well. The release of YouTube Gaming would also face some impact if this situation kept on continuing just because Kemmel gave out his opinion.

I consider your examples a cop out, its not a fair choice between watching a detective on tv or becoming one. People watch detectives, chefs, drama, horror or biologists on tv because they are presented in a form of entertainment for the audiences. You don't want to become a detective or hunting dangerous animals because you want to have fun.

The problem that Kimmel addressed was about a form of entertainment that was created from another form of entertainment, both of them can equally be chosen to participate in because you can have fun with both of them.

If you would say "But wait.. isn't football also a form to entertain yourself? Why can people watch football games and we can't watch esports of people playing call of duty or counter strike?" then congrats, we are on the same page . Both football and counter strike tournaments requires either physical training for one or mental training for the other, but both are done at a professional level to be able to entertain people while winning prizes and money.

Technology of video games has advanced to a point that you can just watch someone play it and still be entertained. You won't watch people play pacman or pong because of how simplistic they are and how quickly you will get bored, but thats the perception that kimmel has, he himself stated of how out of touch he was with video games, and he didn't deserve those insults because it isn't his fault entirely.

Apparently though kimmel resolved the issue with games on trying watching it himself with a guy named markplier and a chick named missesmae
