silencedotmid
Unlike other computer glasses they actually look pretty nice. $99 seems a bit steep though. Alternatively you can just eliminate blue lights on your desktop with programs like flux or redshiftgui. And hey, it's free.

Just tried out the flux thing as I've been using my computer up late and had some Issues with the light, works pretty well actually. Not too great on knowing when it's dark or not but close enough. Thanks for bringing it up.
polar
TL;DR: I think it's a sham Long version: I've been interested in ophthalmology and neuroscience for a long time. In medical school, this was something I looked into. While no one really knows exactly what makes things better or worse for your eyes, an intriguing theory and one I personally subscribe to is that visual acuity is most affected at a young age by the focal distance you keep your eyes from their targets. To put it more simply, for thousands of years, we've been out in the world and the focal length we have been accustomed to has been essentially an infinite distance (once you look at something past 5 meters or so, it's essentially an infinite distance). Computers and especially books cause people to keep their eyes positioned at a fixed focal distance to their target for long periods of time. At a young age when your brain is very plastic and mouldable, this means that you are building neural circuits selectively for one type of vision as opposed to another - nearsightedness. Of course, there are all sorts of other issues that factor in like genetics. Basic Advice: Don't stare at any screen / book for more than 20-30 minutes at a time. Relax your eyes by taking breaks where you stare out past your computer for some time. Eat a balanced diet. Exercise. Trust me. Exercise is literally a magic pill. It cures everything. More fun facts: The whole premise of "brightness" affecting your vision is imo a sham. The older you get, the more rod cells tend to die off at the back of your retina. You know how your mom always tells you you're messing up your vision because you're reading in the dark? That's bullshit. The world IS darker to her than it is to you. Most important thing is that your eyes should be comfortable. Adjust your lighting and screen settings to whatever is comfortable to YOUR eyes. Even if the brightness is uncomfortable, it's less likely to actually affect your visual acuity and more likely just to give you a headache due to strain. Affinity
Yay polar, first valuable post on this thread! You do not disappoint, despite that I only wanted to know what you think about the glasses itself... But I see what you mean. Still, I couldnt find any negative review or neutral review on similar Gunnar eyewear, so it's not really a sham because it does SOMETHING GOOD for your eyes, but not as fair as they advertise it, right?
