Lib3l
I had windows 8 and it seems like a direct upgrade to me, I don't waste time with any of the cortana shit but it seems to fun faster and microsoft edge is actually pretty damn fast. Looks kinda flashy and good looking but I would be careful about what settings you chose if you do install, microsoft wants you browsing history, keylog etc
♠Derpeh♤
If you're not desperate to upgrade I would stick with windows 7 until the memory leak issues with win10 are properly fixed.

Keep this in mind if you want to update. On my 4 GB PC after ~8 hrs of usage NT Kernel can end up using 400-500 MB of RAM. In previous versions it only used 80 KB or so. 1+1=3 ?
Anyone knows what is the main difference between windows 8 and 10 because I don't I should upgrade or not.
8hu
Anyone knows what is the main difference between windows 8 and 10 because I don't I should upgrade or not. The biggest reason to upgrade is because once the free upgrade period ends. Microsoft will soon after drop support for Windows 8 and under. There will be no more major updates named "Windows 11" and so on. Updates are just going to roll out through Windows Update like small bug fixes have for the past OSes. Also, Windows 10 is a combo of the best parts of 8 and 7. More than noticeably, 10 brings back the familiar start menu from 7 that was taken away in 8. However, Microsoft is a dumb ass and doesn't realize they should keep live tiles to mobile, so they're still there in the start menu. WIndows 10 is still in beta essentially and they are fixing it still, most noticeably the memory leak mentioned above. Cortana is dumb, Edge is surprising okay, but other wise I'd wait like they said until later. tl:dr microsoft is dropping support for windows 8 and lower and 10 is a wombo-combo of 7+

Microsoft has recently been using a lot of references to Halo as codenames. One such example is Cortana.

Tats
Windows 7 works perfectly fine for me, I don't plan to change it. Also I don't want to upload all my personal in NSA's cloud... They can already access my data, I don't want to make their job even easier ! If they stop the support for W7 but I still need a safe system, I think I will switch to Ubuntu (easy and stable). Tats
They give you the illusion of things, that's all. When you accept to install windows or use it, you accept their terms and conditions. And windows is a trademark of Microsoft who is under the law of USA. It is the same for Facebook, Google and all big american firms. That being said, if you have no sensitive information, then go and use Windows, but don't say you never knew you could be spied on.
Supore
Windows 7 -> Windows 10: no, not for now Windows 8/8.1 -> Windows 10: most definitely! If you happen to upgrade to Windows 10, UPDATE YOUR VIDEO, AUDIO AND NETWORK DRIVERS, AND DISABLE NDU.SYS. Seriously, if you don't do this, ntokrnl.sys aka the System process will take up 200 megs of RAM, going up to 1100 megs when I started up TF2. When I applied the fixes, ntokrnl.sys only took up 0.1 megs, always. 1000 posts hype?!

For you guys wondering how to disable ndu.sys, open up regedit, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Ndu and set the value of Start to "4". Then restart so it takes effect. Umity
You can always download it and if you don't like it, there is an option to reinstall your old Windows. Downgrading from 10 takes less than 10 seconds, literally. I didn't like Windows 10 because of the conflicting issues my Nvidia driver has with Windows 10 so I downgraded. Though as others have stated its probably best to wait until all the bugs are fixed.

New Bee
Here's all the features that I've explored so far Pros + User-voted feedback for the Update/Support team (Windows Feedback) + Edge is pretty good (Web Notes - annotate webpages for research, Reading Mode - great for HTML5 news websites, future support for Chrome extensions/apps) + Virtual Desktops are amazing (if only they had better shortcuts to activate them) + Startup time (on my computer) reduced from ~30 seconds to about ~17, ~13 if not cold-booted + Continuum is ok, touch interface is alright + Stock apps are pleasing to use when actually working. (other than the fucking stock calculator which got 100% broken, using Microsoft Mathematics right now) + Advanced pinning of apps to screen corners/edges (can do quarter-screens now instead of only half-screens) + GameDVR video recording for people that can't be bothered installing 3rd-party game-recording apps (still can't stream though, might be implemented in later updates) + Animations are pretty (yes, virtual hat collectors, there's VISUAL EFFECTS) + XBOX streaming is a good start. I like it. Cons - Stock apps are broken - App store is still useless - Inconsistent UI design - Partial Windows Aero - Settings app is not great, more difficult to find settings that were easily accessible in previous versions of Windows - Telemetry user info collection (can choose to disable this when installing/upgrading, meant to be used to help find out common problems and troubleshoot them, I think) - Some drivers (especially Nvidia + soundblaster) don't work right now - Windows Update is partially broken - Windows apps generally don't display full error messages now, which is annoying for those who like to troubleshoot the problem themselves - Login screen is ugly as hell - Dumb default wallpaper Eh ~ Haven't used Phone Companion, but it looks okay ~ Cortana is merely a novelty ~ File Explorer still uses Ribbon (Some people like this, some people don't) ~ Basic 3D editing stock app included (it can be uninstalled)
