Bronies: What exactly are they and what do you think of them?

Not to sound stupid, but what's the Sonic fandom like? I only know the infamous FNaF fandom (No offense) and possibly furries.

In a nutshell... take everything you're learning about Bronies... and replace Bronies with Sonic.

Hey, I like sonic. His bad games give me joy on youtube. Meanwhile his good games give me joy while I play them. Also controversial opinion alert: I liked Shadow the hedghog and 100% it. Also, is there a digimon fanbase? Because I went back and started watching the first season, and gave up immediately after a few minutes.

I used to be a brony during 2012-2014, but I'm not anymore. It's amazing how many hate comments you can get just because of the avatar. Some haters on youtube are hilarious and stupid, and a small portion do have amazing arguments. Nevertheless, I was the guy that just liked the show, but never shoved it in anyone's throat or anything like that. I even had some pony haters friends and got in some fights against bronies and cloppers, because they were so annoying and were talking about Pony 100% of the time, and giving the Fandom a Bad Name. I don't regret leaving the Fandom.

Bronies all started as a joke on an very, very, infamous site, where people pretended to like My Little Pony. I suppose it was an inside joke to tell everyone that you fancy a show that is mostly for nine year old girls. Eventually, people genuinely started to like the show, and thus the fandom became what it is today. Although, I find it strange, that bronies claim that My Little Pony has a very intricate plot or something like that, almost as if there is absolutely nothing better to watch? Almost as if, My Little Pony triumphs over everything that has aired on television?

Actually, that's quite true.

 

In 4chan, people started spamming images and videos about MLP all around 4chan (Possibly during its first and second season.) Due to the curiosity of many people in 4chan, they started watching the show and seeing what MLP made people spamming images. They turned out to enjoy the show and some enjoyed it... a little too much.

 

But the results were that so many bronies were made from 4chan, people got curious even more as to what was so great about MLP. They ended up being part of the spreading fire. And before you know it, you've got a Bronycon each year where ~8000 people go to.

I don't really care. My friend made me watch the first 2 episodes and.. meh? I've seen better cartoons (The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy being probably the best I've seen).

 

As for porn, people get aroused by all sorts of things. Doesn't give me a right to condemn it as long as it's legal.

Usually because of first childhood crushes and such. It's not a new thing though. In the 90's you had the girls from Tiny Toons Adventures, Animaniacs, Talespin, etc. The 80's had Thundercats, Rescue Rangers, Ninja Turtles, and so on.

Not only is there such a thing, some people seem to be dedicated to churn out as much as possible, like they were trying to block out the sun with pony porn. On the largest Rule 34 (If it exists, there is porn of it) website out there, there are currently 74,000 unique MLP porn pics. The only thing larger is the Pokemon franchise at 96,000. 3rd and 4th place go to Touhou (58,000) and DC (26,000).

I agree with this. Does liking pokemon make me objectionable like a brony liking MLP? Not really. The general disgust with bronies comes from the depth and severity of their obsession with MLP, but I don't think all bronies are like that. I don't think gent is like that. 

 

I wonder why freaks of the pokemon fandom don't get the same hate. Auroz, no offense to him, would be a perfect example of that depth in the fandom that a brony would be hated on for, but instead, people found auroz endearing and funny (Some of them, not all, I know some of you hated him). I did too(On the endearing and funny part), bless his banned soul.

There's two sides to a brony, liking the show and/or having sexual attraction to animated ponies.

Then you are not obnoxious. I for one actually like to watch rom coms, which are also not primarily made with me as a target audience. What you like to watch in your own free time is your own business.

I go to University of New South Wales which a somewhat prestigious university in Australia (dunno about rank in relation to the world probably shit).

 

We have a MLP society. It is legitimately a society which takes up rooms and money from the university so they can gather around and watch MLP every week. No joke.

 

Normally I wouldnt mind but there were newer societies which were focused on actual problems (eg: helping students find internships, jobs and organising judging panels with people from the industry...etc) which were unable to get any funding because of groups like them.
