Engi Desu
Honestly, I have been contemplating of dropping several MMOs I have involved with (Archeage, TERA, Mabinogi, etc.) and probably going to play Final Fantasy 14 from this point forward. Why you may ask? The communities that I'm involved with are becoming dead or filled with a bunch of elitist assholes that have soured the community entirely*. The point where I'm borderline of abandoning the game. I'm talking about on a scale where their influence has driven the community into being toxic and it has been scaring off any new players. Elitist snobs have absolute control over the market, can mark-up items whenever they fucking please, and if you even dare go against them (even in the matter of opinion), then you're going to be choked out of the economy. (I do have power in these games' economies, especially Commerce or Merchanting, but not the person to power-abuse like these assholes.) Hell, even moderators and game masters have many opportunities to step in on this and the majority of the time--they will suck up to them, because they're either bribed with items, art, or wealth. That's the level of toxicity I'm talking about. I'm looking at Final Fantasy 14 and wonder if I should put my money into it. Sure, it's a subscription-based MMO, but I'm really interested into playing it. I just want some honest thoughts about it, because I'm literally considering dumping MMOs entirely (especially the F2P ones). Should you recommend it or steer away from it? Naked Russian
Well, I played this game alot and I started to play again since the release of the last DLC, and all I can say is that this game is great, the community is friendly (of course alot less when your party fails the dungeon/raid for the 8th time), the character design, world design is kinda great too (compared to the other MMOs it's beautifull). Also the story is more important in FF14 and suprisingly it's not a bad story ! And since it's really common and easy to change class, the low lv community is active and so for the high lv community (especially since the release of the last DLC), the crafting system is actually pretty fun. The soundtrack for the boss fights is really really awesome. Possibility to add skills from other class (up to 4 skills). But to play this game you need a good computer, also there is a lack of tanks/healers (it's a bit better now since the last DLC), and once you are max lv with one class it might be harder to lv up another class. So yeah I would recommend this game.

Prince Lowell
OP wants to play a MMORPG thats like telling a MMO fanatic to play Warcraft 2 rather than WoW no. OP is asking if they should put money into FF 14. I just said that the older ones would be a better bet to play.
Дебра
no. OP is asking if they should put money into FF 14. I just said that the older ones would be a better bet to play. From this I highly doubt you know what FF14 is. FF14 is a MMORPG in the style of WoW set in the Final Fantasy universe. It's completely unrelated to Final Fantasy outside of the universe it's set in, the genre isn't even similar to other FF games. He wants to play a MMORPG not a JRPG. Engi Desu
no. OP is asking if they should put money into FF 14. I just said that the older ones would be a better bet to play. I actually have the majority of the old ones and I wouldn't mind sitting down and playing them. Yet, that's not the question I'm asking. Should I invest my money into a subscription for Final Fantasy 14, since the MMOs that I play have went to shit? From this I highly doubt you know what FF14 is. An MMORPG, not some game that may or may not recycle gameplay.
Levit
First MMO I ever really got into. I tried wow, but I think the art style didn't suit me well. It's a great game, and I've had hours of fun with it. I can safely say that I'll be playing it for years to come. The community is pretty great. When I first started out, plenty of people would help me out if I asked for it. If you're new to a dungeon, pretty much anyone would explain the boss or dungeon mechanics to ya. It's worth at least a try. The story is pretty great as there is a ton of lore to go along with it just like any other final fantasy. Have you done the free trial? I've done the free trial about a year ago on another computer. Honestly, I heard quite good remarks about FF14 from friends. Yet, some friends are like "you'll regret paying for it." I rather play a game that has a great community and willing to communicate than one that lacks it.
