Do the forums hurt your eyes at night, even at low brightness? They used to hurt mine. So much so that I searched for a chrome extension that would lower the brightness or invert the colors of a page. I found what I was looking for, but it inverted colors, meaning the dark colors became bright. For most intents and purposes that was okay, but I'm a perfectionist and I wanted it to be better. So I did this:

This is a complete skin, it works on blogs, index, threads, editing threads, posting new threads, special items, and much more. It basically makes everything a whole lot darker.

 

 

If you like what you see in the video, here is a tutorial to get the skin I created, or a tutorial on how to make your own. Beware, making your own is a lengthy process, in order to make the one I'm now using, it took me a solid four hours, making sure everything was compatible and preserving the good features. I ran into a LOT of problems and it was very difficult, and it's still not perfect.

The first link is stylebot, where all of the fancy colors come from. The second link is an extension that changes the color of the background of a page. Sadly, Stylebot only works on page elements, and the parts of the forum that aren't occupied by actual page elements are just a blank white, and can't be edited. And I strived to remove ALL white, so you need this extension so you can manually change the rest of the page to whatever color you're looking for.

In order to use the CSS code in that box, you have to copy it and paste it inside the CSS code for forums.backpack.tf in the options on the stylebot extension. If you need help, add me on steam or message me. You can create your own as I said before, and if you want help with that, contact me.

well there is a program that dosent change the format of the forums but there is a program called flux which changes your screen brightness and color based on the timezone on your computer. So if its night-time it will bring on a darker color to ease your eyes but it is barelly noticable.

That's fine and all, but the longer I stare at the screen, even at minimal brightness, the harsher the light becomes. At some point, I have to crank it up to max, and look at it for a few seconds, then shift it down again so it seems dim. 

 

 

I tried dimming the screen further with a thing much like flux, but I had to get it to an uncomfortable dark before I could save my eyes xD

You must have REALLY sensitive eyes man, well I suggest getting gunner glasses or having your monitor off and using your imagination. Both work effectively tho

Hehe, I wear sunglasses everywhere, and sometimes I have to shut my eyes and let them rest under fluorescent lighting.

I am not post farming here. But I stream about 5-8 hours everyday and continuously staring at my monitor. Thank god I dont have your burden

What's so bad about RGB? I chose those colors because they look nice in moderation, most of it is black. It's way easier on the eyes than plain white.

Personally I think the black background is WAY harsher on the eyes than the current set-up. Maybe it's because I spent all day around books, but eh.

 

And on another note, it's also way less sleek and professional-looking. I don't really want the forums looking like something whipped up by one kid in 20 minutes.

It means I don't have to squint or look away periodically, or do any other of my tricks to fix my eyes, because the forums are simply darker. The text stands out well against the colors I used anyway.

 

 

 

 

 

I think I might make more themes, some just to ACTUALLY be nice, and I'll spend hours on them and perfect them, and dump them here for all to use.

The Red/Black and Green/Black contrast hurts my eyes waaaay way more than a white screen does. Darker means I have to actually squint, unlike now.

From what I'm reading the problem may be your eyesight, darling, and not the forums.
