Should Puddington be a mod?

Recommended Posts

♫ MoPcKo cBuH4e :d

Well, apparently bp.tf members still blindvote suggestions (that's bad but we can't help it), but the thing is Puddington blindly accepts them too. :/

Recent examples where a suggestion was accepted when it should have been closed:

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/55406c38b98d883a1b8b46a9

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/5534e82fb88d88f67f8b4a52 - The votes weren't even positive...

There are much more, those are the most recent ones. I don't like having such moderator in the website. In the past it wasn't like this. He used to read comments, he even replied to one comment in one of my first suggestions:

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/525160314dd7b86d508b4568

I want that Puddington back. I am sure none of the other mods blindly accepts suggestions. A good mod should check the proof and post comment if he finds that something isn't right.

Examples:

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/552e7f67b98d8819148b4f4d - Cashew

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/551d731fba8d8874788b4923 - Aaroncsn

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/5516a88bb88d882c4d8b48cb - Polar

So I am thinking should Puddington be a mod? He is one of the oldest mods (afaik) and used to accept most of the suggestions everyday.

He closed one suggestion without giving reason why:

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/5532aea9b98d8887148b671f

Probably the seller at 10 have since sold but imo he should have stated that.

At the begining of the year he was doing such "sloppy work" if I can call it that. That's the main reason why I left bp.tf for about two months. But after all I decided to get back and continue with my suggestions, because of MegaGenta's words and that even when I don't play the game and barely trade now I keep doing suggestions. I like updating prices and helping the community, but I like having decent mods that help me do it right.

There was one suggestion where even the other members of the bp.tf community were complaining about Puddington, so it's not just me. If I find it I will post it here.

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/550a49c8b88d887e608b4640 Thanks, Victoria.

This shouldn't continue. What happened to the old Puddington?

He accepted few of my suggestions which I later realised should have been closed:

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/5510326bba8d881d318b45da

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/55103264b88d8879548b45cb

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/55103261b88d887d5f8b47df

Cashew pointed that here:

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/55103268ba8d88bd308b462c

I don't mind if Fiskie change them to closed and I lose some rep. I just want things to be back to normal.

Please take this seriously. I may not be on the forums much but I am in bp.tf everyday and I do care about the site. I want either Puddington to change his attitude or to be removed as a mod. I should have posted this earlier but better late than never.

This probably won't go through but worths the try.

They are simply doing their jobs.

Not every item will have the seller/buyer base for a few different reasons

1) unpopular item

2) uncommon item

3) untradeable item

and the list goes on.

All of the suggestions in question appear to have some form of proof and are both uncommon hats.

Plus a moderator doesn't have to decide based on votes.

On the other side if you want to bitch about pudington, what about this suggestion that YOU made http://backpack.tf/vote/id/551555e1b98d8873518b45c4

If that's how mods did their jobs I would have been long gone. This is how Puddinton do his job lately - sloppy.

Nothing wrong with it? Market was small and that was the only sale (at least that I could find). My point was that 1,33 shouldn't be in the range when the seller is 4 days never bumped trade. How are people supposed to see it if it's never bumped. -.- And I don't "bitch about puddington" I am just stating the truth.

No, you're doing the exact same thing you're accusing Puddington of accepting. I just got done telling you that there is reasons why the suggestions in question were accepted.

Fine and what about the other suggestions? And there are tons more which are now too old and out of the question. As I said I should have posted this earlier.

he blindly accepted that just for profit, back when earbuds sgts must have lots and lots of proofs like keys do,there was only like 10 links, really?

He posted there and said he sold alot of 16 keys each. He obviously had experience in the market and the price needed an update badly. Accusing him of doing that for profit only is very low.~

Edit: The tone of this thread is bad. :P

at the same time it's still not exactly the transparency the site is supposed to pride itself on, regardless of whether the suggestion reflected the market

If I recall correctly, that suggestion was accepted within' 30 minutes or so after it was created. That suggestion alone should have been a red flag.

Even if Puddington sold a large handful of Earbuds, he should've stated it, shown evidence that correlates to it, and gave it more time to see if it was anomaly or outlier.

Something right there makes me (and assuming everyone else) skeptical if Puddington's motives were for greed/profit motives...

20 Buds don't reflect the market. From what I've seen, I would see Bud suggestions normally go from a day or two (if there is heavy proof involved) to nearly a week or two.

Accepting a suggestion within' thirty minutes of the suggestion being placed doesn't make any damn sense. Even a basic, simple suggestion lasts more than a hour.

Was up for at least 5 hours. Of course it's not the best earbud suggestion with votes being negative and not so much proof and it was a judgement call.

I remember that suggestion not even being up for that long at all and shocked me how fast it went. I don't think it went for five hours.

Yet, even if that was the case, I would still give it a day or two to double-check proof and the economy's ebbs and flows on that particular item. (Since it is a common item...)

Still, that suggestion alone was probably accepted on the basis of the moderator's own sales, not anyone else's.

It was at least 5 hours, look at the timestamps of the first and last post.

Yes in theory all currency suggestion should be up for days and everything but it's not always perfect by the book.

If bp.tfs price on a currency is heavily outdated and its credibility suffers then sometimes it might be better to accept a suggestion and reflect the good price, even if the suggestion isnt the best. This happens rarely tho but yeah.

Blind Bear spotted!

There was one suggestion where even the other members of the bp.tf community were complaining about Puddington, so it's not just me. If I find it I will post it here.

I've been complaining once about Puddington on one of Hex's suggestions. I personally thought that it was a minor mistake that Puddington has made as he handles a lot of non-unusual items a day. It was also a definite rise anyways, but I was up to counter on Hex's constant lack of proof at that time, so there I was countering it.

I don't think Puddington blindly accepts them. He have actually viewed the evidence and had accepted that this item is in need of a rise.

Backpack.tf is not a bible, not everything must be accurately priced. People might missed some links like Hex did on his suggestion that I've linked above, and it is the viewers responsibility to correct them back, or to do a counter suggestion. Moderators can no longer do suggestions as you know and most of the white belt suggester-s on backpack.tf are actually trying really hard to get their first yellow badge. In my opinion, as long as the price seems outdated and somebody have suggested to make the item rise or a drop, it would be an acceptable price for me. This can encourage new suggesters onto backpack.tf suggesting, and also, it would've been really picky for a moderator if a mod just orders those white belts to suggest. This will then causes the white belts to rely on moderators instead of being independent.

Nevertheless, if people on backpack.tf have actually did a counter-suggestion, I don't think Puddington would've accepted those suggestions.

d0 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I don't think the question is, should Puddington be a mod or not.

It should rather be - How much percentage of mistakes does he make each week/month or so. Because Puddington been here forever and accept sooooo many suggestion with a large variety of items (unusuals, rare, collector's, unique normal stuff) - So sometimes it gets kinda meh and he don't add any proof/counter to support/disprove the suggestion.

I just think there should be less suggestions that he "fail" accept or the mistakes he done should get improved.
