bdg.Lastginger Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Hi, a friend of mine recently bough a kill-a-Watt Crone's Dome and only after he bought it he realized it was duped. My question is, if an item is duped, isnt one copy of the item clean and the other duped, and if so, is there a way to tell between the two? And if it was the clean duped one (if that makes any sense) will still be valued as a duped hat. Link to the hat http://backpack.tf/item/2355339824 My friend bought it from Kasztanor, not Stig's Turtle Cousin, if that makes any difference. Thanks
CrafterofGenius Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Duped hats are "duped" because their item id has been detected in two places at the same time. The "clean dupe" will still be valued as duped, as noone can tell if it were the original or care to. Too short didn't read for some reason: No. Yes.
A Ninja Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 No. Yes. Both still show up as duped = Same price.
MrPeaches Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Both would be duped since you can't make two items without "duplicating" one first. Next time you should tell your friend to check both the BackPack.tf history and TF2Items History. In my opinion, TF2Items is more accurate than BackPack.tf, so it'd be better to double check on that site as well.
