Uncle Dong Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Last night my internet went out and i checked my router and it was stuck in a boot loop i waited an hour but it was still stuck so i went to bed. When i woke up it was on and working just fine but when i checked in on my server it showed that my local ip was completely different so i shut it down. i checked what my local ip was and it was exactly what my server showed. Speedtest thinks i live in Toronto but i tracked my current IP down and its for BC Vancouver and i dont live there I traced my old IP down and it traces to South Carolina Conway USA Im not understanding what is going on right now can someone help? How the hell did my IP just change like that? EDIT: I retraced my old ip for an exact address and its for the National Guard....a fucking Military base stole my IP EDIT 2: Retraced my current IP and it goes to the CN tower in Toronto
Woifi The Viking Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 If you don't have a fixed IP it can change, some people even have a new one every day.

Also, your local IP shouldn't affect your "location". Your external IP is the only one that a website can see. If your external IP didn't change, your location shouldn't have changed.

My ISP told me that they recently updated my modems firmware and that changed my IP
