So I'v wanted an Australium scattergun for a while, and I have 6 keys Should I use them to buy MvM tickets and do a crap ton of tours hoping to get the right one or should I save my keys and buy the one I want?

Obviously extremely likely (sarcasm)

If your only goal is an australium scattergun, save and buy it. 6 keys won't even get you 5 tours.

People have gone over 100 tours without getting one.

It took me about 41 tours to get my first Australium, and it was the Bluts so if your goal is just a Scatter you'd be better off saving up, good luck.

3 aussies in 27 tours. I actually just got my last aussie yesterday lol

Well, I mean...

I've only ever completed 2 tours, and both yielded Aussies for me. (Sniper Rifle and Knife.) But, that's the luckiest I've ever even heard of someone coming in MVM, with the exception of those who have gotten Golden Pans. For me, I have a 100% drop ratio on completed tours, but that's so unlikely that I think it'll never happen ever again.

If it were me, I'd just save up and buy the Aussie you want. It'd probably come a lot faster than playing MVM over and over again, but you never know. It all depends. How much do you enjoy playing MVM? If that's the bread and butter of TF2 for you and you'd rather do nothing else, get the tickets and enjoy the game time. If you only want to grind MVM for the possible Aussie and hate the gameplay, then you'd obviously want to buy the weapon instead.

Low tours gets better chance in getting Australiums. I've gotten my first drop on the 7th tour, and is currently onward to my 12th Australium drop as 130 tour.

Wish you luck and keep going.

Honestly, depending on the chances you'll get with other aussies I would suggest just buy it with keys. You'll spend more than 50 keys ($100 value) buying tours than you can trade from people if you're that exact trying to get a Scattergun drop.

But hey! Different australium drops you can sell for pure can easily make you hit landmine for the Scattergun in no time. At least, that's how I got... my.... unusuals...

At the risk of derailing this thread (obviously saving up is the right answer here if you want a specific australium),  wtf is this shit?  27 tours and 3 aussies?  Back-to-back aussies on the first 2 tours???

I'm 139 tours in with two aussies.  The people I play with can make similar dismal claims.  There's no way that this is just sheer luck, because I hear stories that tell of ridiculous luck too often.

So let me get this straight:  we have roughly the same number of tours, but you've gotten 6x as many aussie drops as me.

Personally, I love playing MvM, so I don't mind buying TOD tickets and trying to get an Australium that way. If that's not the case for you, I'd save up. One strategy to maybe get enough keys is to trade for marketable items and then sell them on the SCM. Depending on the item you could get significantly more on the SCM than you would through trading.

Why not do both? Start investing and making profit, but use a cut of the profits for things like MvM or other little things you'd enjoy.

It may take longer to get to your end goal if drops are not on your side, but it will keep you a bit more engaged towards your goal.
