Try less autotune to make it sound not like a text to speech robot is singing them and also have a little less repetition in the guitar. Maybe add a nice little solo or something. Through out the song, the guitar sounds really lost and like it's randomly strumming a chord every few seconds. Tell your friend to either try and keep the same arpegiatted notes from the beginning throughout as a form of bass line or to think of a different strum pattern (I'd recommend a bit of palm muting for a nicer sound) or to play a different riff for accompaniment.
