Traders, we need to figure out a stable substitute for change

How much metal does a trader want to have to keep in his backpack?

Let's say an item is 9.8 keys & keys are 20 ref

That means a buyer has to waste 16 slots to have refined metal.

That's a lot of slots wasted.

We're either going to have to stop with the whole change thing, or find a stable substitute.

At this point, I'm thinking Tour Of Duty tickets could be used as .4 key

Anything else stable enough, that as metal becomes less valuable, this item rises?

edit: Changed TOD to .4

Very bad idea, how would you go with weapons and other low valuable items?

If you really want change, gather people, mass complain to Valve to put new potential permanent use for Refined metal.

0.8 * surprise it hadn't been noticed.

Well don't know what else can be currency. Has to be rare or backed by cash

And common enough to be normally traded

TOD work but don't think would be adopted since it isn't the best

Metal users can only buy cheap items.

That's all they can afford as the change keeps going higher and higher.

I don't see how it will happen though. Refined metal has been used as currency from the very beginning (when trading was first introduced to Steam).
