Steam isn't starting

I click the Steam icon and nothing happens. Doesn't load. How do i fix this

Check Task Manager and look for Steam. It could just be loading slowly.

Its not actually starting.

end the steam task from task manager, then try to start it again, then keep repeating 'till it says it's checking for updates, then should be fine

There is no steam task

 

I click the steam icon, then the icon "fades" away, as if I didn't actually click it

Another user on the computer is running steam, it happens to me some times when my brother leaves his steam on,

Did you try restarting?

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling?

Shut the computer down, then log back on, then log in go on steam blaah blaah works for me
