Jomarcenter
IDK if this topic is created before and IDK where I can put this up but since it's economy related I just post it up hear. Ok we all know gems won't be removed after the auction but not yet confirm that gem is can still be craft-able after this. But on your opinion do you think gems will be a new community currency just like Keys, Ref, Dota 2 rare weapons, etc...? Plus it can make booster packs so there another good thing too... and also another question. based on pricing on the market the auction's profile wallpaper I can confirm that it can cost 67+ dollars. so in mathematical equation 1000 gems can be equal to 2$+ based on market value. But there is no community value what do you think per 1000 Gems can worth once the auction is over?
Prince Lowell
*spits out drink* HA! that's a good one. We can't price them in here (unless we add a steam thing) because they are steam items. Besides, gems are infinite, so they would be almost useless. besides, if we could, how do you price them? By gem? Tour of Duty Tickets have a better chance of becoming a currency imo. Well I think after the auction gems will not be craft able anymore so if people make booster pack... 1 stack of gems prices will go up eventually and booster pack prices will go down. kind of thing. But still I wanted to know your opinion on gems since it basically new to the steam economy especially it can be sold at the marketplace. since 1. Unpopular games will trading card 2. Booster only drop to a user randomly if 1 person craft badge for a specific games. so rare booster pack can lower down prices since gems can create the rare ones due to unpopular games. I am going to leave this open and wait to see how many comment I can see here.

Vindictator1972
Boosters are dropped after a few badges are crafted and the cards go into a hopper for when to be dropped to people.
w0lk
Steam Inventory item as a TF2 currency? lol
Budi
No, just no. Gems aren't tied to the TF2 store which provides the price baseline for keys and tickets which cannot be crafted. Gems can be crafted and cannot be purchased in the steam store. Yes they can be purchased on the market, but that's a fluctuating price drive by market supply and demand. Auroz
A currency for less valuable items maybe, such as cheap stranges, ref and Steam inventory items maybe. But only for Christmas. But a currency like ref or keys ? No.

ToD would be great, the only problem it's that they are not an exact fraction of a key ( 0,99 / 2,49 = 0.39% ish) .
Hugeisno1
ToD would be great, the only problem it's that they are not an exact fraction of a key ( 0,99 / 2,49 = 0.39% ish) . Quite a few people use them as currency already. They do have some characteristics in common with keys. Store bought. Constantly in demand. Reliably easy to trade. but yes it's not quite half a key, bothersome but not back breaking.
