polar
Just want to clear up, once and for all, what we consider a random craft hat. In the words of Brad, "Basically any hat that isn't worth anything and nobody will pay extra for." So robo hats, craftable genuines, ellis caps, badges, halloweens - hats that no one wants as a cosmetic but are used almost exclusively for the purpose of crafting. Does this mean that many, if not most, hats WON'T be priced as a "random craft hat?" Possibly. But so be it. If a hat is worn as a cosmetic and has more value than hats used just for crafting, then it shouldn't be priced as a random craft hat. How do you identify "Random Craft Hats" and their value? - Value shouldn't be lower than buyer trades of people who will buy ANY craft hat for x amount. - Scrap.tf stock would be pretty helpful. If there are loads of a particular hat dumped there, that is a pretty good indication. Does this mean scrap.tf is the sole source of proof? No, but it would be foolish to ignore since it is so commonly used.
Mike Crosoft
Thanks for clarifying it up, still disagree on dropping it simply because robo and halloween hats were priced at 1.22 and below, then after 1.22-1.33 suggestion got accepted, everybody started selling cheap, that pretty much ruined everything. polar
Thanks for clarifying it up, still disagree on dropping it simply because robo and halloween hats were priced at 1.22 and below, then after 1.22-1.33 suggestion got accepted, everybody started selling cheap, that pretty much ruined everything. The suggestion was accurate. Problem was that most hats are priced as random craft hats, and that was the mistake. Hopefully that will be fixed now and only those hats that need the random craft hat status are priced as random craft hats.
Kevin the Chicken God
will this effect giang's suggestions raising almost every hat individually back up to 1.33?

His suggestions are fixing the problem I mentioned above. Hats he is suggesting have no stock on scrap.tf. They are cosmetics people actively seek to wear. Shouldn't fall under the umbrella. The problem here is this : http://gyazo.com/d233b8806fa5271d7c31f5f572e3bf83 Majority of people in the community are viewing what Mike mentioned of as craft hat rather than what admins are saying. Hardly anyone is viewing robo, ellis, etc as the latter.

Utsoob
a random craft hat is backpack.tfs failed attempt to create a 4th currency.... Pretty much this. The RCH blanket was a rushed attempt to get on the bread box hype during the L&W update. Just seems kinda like a forgotten, and semi antiquated system. Also: His suggestions are fixing the problem I mentioned above. Hats he is suggesting have no stock on scrap.tf. They are cosmetics people actively seek to wear. Shouldn't fall under the umbrella. If we’re just going to raise the price back up on, granted certain, craft hats back to 1.33 (specifically Giang and others), then WHY the actual fuck did we lower down to a range anyway? There's no guarantee that ANY hat will be or not be on scrap.tf. EDIT: I swear that the" ACTIVELY seeking a cosmetic" thing is a gigantic leap of faith. Jacobmeister
I guess there's two definitions, both never really used at the same time, and they're pretty easy to mix up. A hat that is craftable and can be found through crafting also A hat that has no immediate value other than for crafting hats It really depends on how you want to define it. If we're going by #1, things are probably better with the blanket. If #2, exceptions will need to be made on a LOT of hats (which won't be too hard, knowing Giang)
Mr.Giang
a random craft hat is backpack.tfs failed attempt to create a 4th currency.... No. It's just backpack's failure to stop me from rep-farming since Bread Box Hype.
