The first world war was a terribad mix of old strategy and new technology, tens of thousands of men would die in order to conquer a mile of land

World War 1 Strategies were indeed horrible and not strategic in the least but it did give birth to great men (Patton, Eisenhower, etc.) who then revolutionized the way that we now fight today.

The Great War was only minor compared to WWII

However, The Great War was the first Major Modern War in history.

1914 - Start of the war

1915 - Gallipoli Campaign: Lest We Forget *tips hat in respect* ANZACs; We died for you, Britain. Where's OUR reward?

1916 - Western Front formed, stalemate

1917 - Russia pulled out of war due to revolution, led to Soviet Uprising and death of Tsar Nicholas II

1918 - Germany surrendered due to insufficient resources

A simple rundown of the start of the Modern Modern Age

Fact: Mustard Gas was used to kill in WW1. Now, it's used to combat Cancer!
