What did you do and how far did you get in your first year?

In a year I have gone from a craft hat to $720 bp, all with just $7 put into the game.

I'd like to believe I'm still in my first year of trading, but my inventory history shows that I actually started around early May.

I've achieved 40+ games and ~$100 backpack from trading alone. I did redeem a $20 Steam Gift Card, but I spent it all on two copies of Terraria.

Spent well over $150 and have a ~$100 backpack (that is if I add the bits that backpack.tf doesn't calculate)

Mostly smissmass. I opened something like 10-12 crates and didn't get a single strange festive.

And I have the worst uncrating luck.

This is a while ago but,

I bought 2 keys for premium, unboxed an unusual, got sharked immediately.

Then I started to save up again via trading and adding a little steam wallet money to sell the keys to buy hats.

I decided to unbox some keys and I unboxed 3 unusuals in one weekend, all low tiers and I sold one for 4 craft numbers under 100 xD

Try to collect bubbling unusuals for every class, buy my favourite hat from Osiris (mvm/unusual god)

Get phished from outpost (lol)

Lose all my items, cry and freak out because I had credit details saved into steam.

Cancel credit card.

Get account back and all my items.

Sell them all because I decided I hated tf2 and wanted to quit (Sold stranges miscs (1st gen, all made by me) all my unusuals)

Friend talks me into staying.

//Continues up until now//

Somewhere in here:

-i bought every single robotic boogaloo hat and sold the set for 13 keys.

-Loaned items to a friend, who sold it for pure and unboxed it (owed me 6 keys, was huge for me)

-Put a whole page of my bp and 2 unusuals on hold for a friend who would save up (2 months later backed out and deleted me)

So yeah. Some ups and downs and about 100 mistakes. I was such a noob xD

Notes: I was a 16 y/o girl who had only ever played offline games from fear of the community, first online game was tf2 set up by my boyfriend who I trusted (and had no idea what he was doing. He said 9 read was a fair deal for a misc unusual)

Started early september 2013, quit in january, resumed in april, and have a 39 bud backpack, but that's inflated because I got a 30 bud unusual for fifteen. It's really around thirty.

Yes, I realize my backpack is private, don't ask why.

Coming up on my first year anniversary of trading. Started with five dollars, bought two keys, bought a genuine warsworn helmet with one and got a strange wrap with the other. Warsworn I didnt sell for months.

God damm man. Brings a tear too my eye.

I remember back when when people would use spreadsheet as a legitimate source of prices and I looked at items worth 10 keys with sheer awe. My freind and I got a salvaged #40 for a "really good deal" and I remmeber I got really pissed of when he didn't share the profit with me and I threatened too bruteforce his account. Everytime I made profit of .33 (God forbid 1 whole refined) I would be soooooo pumped. Ah, good times.

I remember it took me just over a year too go from a strange shovel and a genuine stove pipe snipers shako too cashing out 35 buds pure.

so mani feels

P.S I've only ever put £4 into my TF2 trading and I was a retard and spent it on gift wrap because I was such a fucking noob and I crafted a untradble Spartan and I thought if I gift wrapped it and sent it too my alt, it would be tradble. Never happened and I promptly forgot the password too my alt. GG NO RE

Now this is the story all about how
My life got twisted, upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became a trader called ProPain

Started in early September 2013, i worked my way up to 30 keys trading cheap things like hats, miscs, stranges, etc, then i fucked up and spent the keys on a Dead Presidents Def Spartan, my first unusual, i didn't have a clue of unusual trading back then. Luckily some guy bought it from me for 3 buds and like 5 keys. (wow)

Then i fucked up again and i bought a Terror Watt Armored Authority for 50 keys, it was a bitch to sell and even got 2 really good offers but i lost them because i hesitated too much (Beams Tricorne, Searing Kabuto). I ended up trading the AA for a Miami Texas Ten Gallon and like 6 keys (yay me again).

I wanted to quit trading around February because of how pissed i was for buying the AA in first place. I finally got rid of it on a trade server, for a Professional Killstreak Festive Sniper and 9 keys (that was before stranges and killstreaks tanked so much in value). Then i sold the rifle for a Max Head, i was so happy.

Since i got my first Max i have worked my way up to a 26-28 Buds backpack :3.

I've been trading for well over a year at this point. I didn't really go anywhere in that first year, spending about $50 or so mostly on keys and other stupid shit, and ending up with a backpack worth a little over a bud. My second year, however, has been much more eventful: I've traded for (and unboxed) my first unusuals, and now I'm hanging sweetly with a BP worth nearly 6 buds, and a decent all-class unusual (Memory Leak Human Cannonball, which I hope isn't a bitch to sell).

I didn't do much in my first year (except low crafts)

it was about this year of 2014 i really started to do trading in which i went from about $30 to a $170 backpack which is kind of a huge goal for me

Posted

my first year of trading brought me from a .2 bud bp i think to a 22.7 bud bp. I'm about finished my second, which has brought me to 117 buds at the time of this posting (i have cashed out like 1k+)
