You might of just wasted your money...

Hello there, I am sure everyone has tried or bought one of the new items from the Love and War update and I'll cut to the chase...

Due to the overwhelming amount of unbox and purchase of the new taunts market is being flooded with them...They are sure to drop down to the price of the old taunts like Schadenfreude, Highfive or even Meet the Medic. So it'd be wise to just wait then make a shopfest. So remind yourself to be patient before buying it and don't waste your money away.

PS:

I thought it'd be most appropriate to post this here because it was only explained with; "Discuss your thoughts on the current state of the economy or which hats you prefer in here." sorry if it's posted at the wrong section.

My friend spent £6 (4 keys worth) in this update, but he did get some pretty shmexy strange bread items, hope they drop to Strange festive price or lower.

Honestly, paying a few dollars extra to be able to turn an entire server into a conga party now rather than later is worth it.

I entirely agree with you. It's worth the extra key or two to get it early enough so that people will love it and join the conga. Because I can see that eventually people will get so annoyed with the conga dance and everyone's already done it a million times, that's when it gets boring.

I think they'll go lower, it may be just me, but I think these items are ugly and annoying and that people won't like them once their novelty wears off.

Such is the nature with all new updates; People get excited, traders will take advantage of said hype in a chance for profit, they will sell the new items for high prices, and people will be more than willing to pay since they want to be included in said hype. In a few weeks however, when everyone has bought what they wanted from the update and a mass amount of those items enter the market, things will begin to slow down, and more stable prices can finally be made. Will some people regret paying more than they should have during the first initial weeks? Most definately. But to those who are content with doing so, then all the power to them.

As for me, I will be waiting until the initial first weeks are done and things have calmed down, since all I want from this update is the engie/rock.paper,scissor taunts, the bruiser's bandana, a normal pair of self aware beauty mark & a normal pair of bread bites.

A friend of mine had the conga just as the update came out. An entire server just congaing at the middle point of the map for a while before moving to different point of no reason other than doing it in a line. It was a glorious 20 minutes that I never expect to see again. Peace through dancing. Until someone found out about the Party Crasher achievement then all hell broke lose. It was wonderful while it lasted.
Then the serious try-hard players started to arrive as well and no dance went un-rocketed. A shame that.

Yes I lost a few refined in this update. I crafted a couple of bread items and unboxed a taunt. Sold the Party Trick for 1 key 2.33 refined. Bought a Buy a Life as well for 1 key earlier. I don't expect to sell it again for even 1 key 1 refined.
Nice taunt though. I won't mind not selling it.

Someone also traded me a Joe on the Go for a strange Powerjack. Sold it again to a buyer for 2.66

All in all a loss made of 4 refined lessened by a few sales.

Still there are other opportunities to be had. Everyone wants to sell items fast so that they can buy the new items. Be it weapons or hats. I expect to see some happy traders when this is all done. Especially craft hat traders.

I expect the class specific taunts will go down to a "class taunt" price level like Meet The Medic.

At the moment prices for them are still nice, lots of people making tons of profit and some taunts are indeed nice. In the meantime I will be waiting for Rancho Relaxo to drop ;)

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying any of the new stuff just so long as you know that you can flip it for a bit of profit.  But yeah, the new stuff has been dropping pretty hard.  It has indeed flooded the market.

don't think it has anything to do with flooding the market. it's not like they were ever going to be rare. the usual 10 bud b/o for any new junk always happens until people realise that they're pissing away keys

if you check basically any new item that was in any way in demand all the graphs show they start of expensive but eventually go to nothing. remember diamond botkiller stuff? lol

Unusual taunt prices are crazy right now and sure to go down.  First, check how many there are on OP already 2 weeks after release.  These things don't exactly seem to be rare, at least not as rare as a lot of hats.  Then there's the fact that you only see the taunt and effect when actually taunting, making it much less impressive than an unusual hat.  In my opinion, most of the class specific taunts will end up being worth less than a bud, and all-class taunts being worth no more than 3.

I don't know about that.  There are taunts like the Conga or the Rancho Relaxo which can last as long as you want them to, and that makes having an effect on them significantly more impressive than an effect on a taunt which lasts only a few seconds.  I expect unusual taunts like that to always be more desirable and therefore much more highly valued than the others.

Then there are also specific taunt/effect combos which I expect will be valued much more highly, such as Buy a Life with Skill Gotten Gains or that stupid pony taunt for pyro with the Screaming Tiger (fire) effect on it.

Wait and see I guess.  My prediction stands though, this is going to go the way of any other update and drop dramatically over the next little while.  It'll take the unusual taunts longer to drop, seeing how people have been spending crazy amounts of buds on them and they'll want to recoup their losses.

It's going to be halloween unusuals all over again. People spending "15 buds of unusuals" on some orb bat cancer and never selling it so it never really gets priced, and they still expect their highball price they paid.

What exactly do unusual taunts add to the game? Taunt mid-game and you're dead. Unusuals are to make you scarier in game. It's well known that if someone has a sunbeams unusual they are going to fuck you up, but someone doing a conga? Instant kill.

People always refuse to listen with new items and just say, "we will see what happens", lol. It happens every update and the people who claim everything will drop are always right.

It's actually nice to quickbuy new items since they sold faster because of the hype. But still there are some risks here to go inside the hype. I got a pretty decent amount of profit by only buying, selling and swapping some taunts. But since the prices of the new items are kind of downfalling currently, would be pretty hard to do this.

About the unusual taunt, I guess it makes your kill-cam-taunt kind of cooler? (or more intimidating)

Remember the robo hats from those robo crates? The Byte'd Beak is surprisingly worth more now than the actual Blighted Beak. It all depends on the demand, but 'we will see what happens' :P

remember robo effects, and robo hats with robo effects? one shitty 1.33 ref craft hat does no disprove the fact that new items should never be bought at their current prices. anyone who is buying these new unusual taunts has already pissed away a large amount of money. that is what will continue to happen

Anyway I'm glad that I didn't buy unusual taunt and seller didn't take my offer.
