Shunsui Kyōraku Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Hi everyone. I'm new to backpack.tf, and I was wondering where I should start. Are there any guides out there to help me start trading, or can any of you guys help me out? I'd love it if you could (I usually never trade anything because I use everything I have, which arguably isn't much!). Thanks a lot for reading this post.
♠Derpeh♤ Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Well since you're just getting started off in trading i wont dive into unsuual trading tips. 1) Never take someone else's advice do your own research or else you'll be making bad deals left and right. The buyer will be trying to buy your stuff for cheap and the seller will be trying to get as much from you as possible. dont take their "help". 2) Check bp.tf prices as well as look on outpost for what others are selling for incase bp is outdated (generally isnt for normal items but still check) 3) Never buy robo hats, halloween, haunted, genuines and/ or vintages if you're trying to profit. (some exceptions for the popualr ones eg: g.awperhand) 4) Never consider paint at it's full price when buying.
The Radiated Banana Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Fuck bitches make money... Just rely on bp.tf like its a bible, its how i started lol
AwesomeMcCoolName Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Hi everyone. I'm new to backpack.tf, and I was wondering where I should start. I'd love it if you could (I usually never trade anything because I use everything I have, which arguably isn't much!). Thanks a lot for reading this post. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GetSponsored Avoid killstreaks until you really know what you're doing since most people wildly overprice them, and selling them is a bitch. Paint/Parts don't add full price to an item once used; and the value added demands on the demand of the hat (and whether or not the paint works on that hat); and whether the Strange parts make sense on the strange they're applied to. Name/description tags/decals/paint/parts can be removed from an item and do NOT detract any value contrary to what some idiots think. Gift tags can NOT be removed and do usually affect the items value--more so on expensive items. Just rely on bp.tf like its a bible, its how i started lol For the love of god....Ignore this.
ArkanistCrook Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 And for the love of god, don't click links because someone's friend can't add you. You might want to research on phishing/account hi-jacking if you already haven't.
Ward - MvM Anyone? Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 In what context do you mean with "trading"? Do you mean selling some of your unwanted stuff? Do you mean that you want to trade to make profit to be able to afford nice things? Please be more clear and we can help you more

The Radiated Banana Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 A few tips: 1. When people add you and ask you to add their friend. Click on the link, it might not work if u dont click on the link. 2. When people want you to look at the screenshot click it, its always nice 3. When people ask if your "doing the same thing" click on the link, who knows they might be right 4. When people ask for you to give ur items to a trustworthy friend, do it. 5. When people with almost no rep and a 1 month old account asks u to go first, go first, you will look trustworthy 6. When you buy an unusual, then the trade errors and you see the effect on the hat change, accept it anyways, steam is probably lagging.

knavesmith Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Here's a tip that would definitely help you in the future. Learn the difference between someone who is trying to help you and someone who is trying to get you killed. For example, someone who is trying to help you would be using common sense and providing details and explanations to their words of wisdom. Someone who is trying to get you killed will try to mislead you and hide certain but important details as to make you mess up in your endeavors. They may also try to pull tricks and jokes on you. You can practice this by identifying who is which in this thread.
