They are paying 1 Billion Dollars for one of the most famous entertainment website.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Google doesn't really make their users "happy". As you can see what they do on youtube, forcing people to adapt to changes. Even if, the changes dissatisfies users, but every change Google makes, the website becomes better in a sense.

Will Google just ruin twitch as it is now or pretty much improve it at its foundation?

I'm betting, the reason they want twitch is because most of the streamers in twitch are youtubers. I'm imagining after they have their hands on twitch, it's either they make a new website, taking youtube and twitch into a big mixing bowl or they keep twitch and they improve/destroy it.

Oh and i'm not sure if this is the right forum since the internet isn't really about politics or technology. ehhh kind of, but you get the point.

If course bad. I don't want everything belong to some giant companies. That's why Google is trying to do - control everything. I hope they won't get that this time.

I don't have anything against Google. I think they will do a better job as they have always. Yes, some of their steps and upgrades may seem unnecessary but still I don't see Google doing anything bad to the site once they buy it.

So, my choice is good.

Also, make voting public, don't see any reason for it to be private. :P

Bad, Google did terrible to Youtube.

As an active Youtuber since '06 (member since '07) they just made the community less active (removed friends, comments, community forums and such) more ads, focus on the wrong important parts that kept the community together, spent most time fixing butthurt stuff like copyright/banned users left and right/made exploited glitch such as sub/views. They made Youtube so much worse as a community and more as a TV channel.

Google is more of an attentionwhore and money horny company that tend to do the best for themself rather than helping and listen to the people who follow them.

But Twitch has gone so much more cancer and everyone is there because there's no other active streaming site (idk when own3d.tv shut down, but since then Twitch has become much worse).

Have you seen Youtube since Google bought it?

Obviously not.

It just means twitch will get a new awful layout redesign every 2 months and postage-stamp sized on-screen video windows.

People think it means content ID restrictions, but haven't considered how hard it is to monitor a couple thousand live channels constantly for copyrighted material.

Also people think linking it with Google+ is a huge inconvenience, but Youtube has been that way for months and I've never once had to use Google+ on its own. I think of it kind of like signing in on Steam with bp.tf or autpost. You just do it and then everything works.

Yes, I am aware of it. :P

What they did was complete idiotic and outrageous but they did to gain more users on Google+ which is still failing.

They might do the same with Twitch, combining Google+ with Twitch but they don't always take bad steps like Facebook does.

Bad, Google likes to fuck things up.

E.g. Youtube.

Yeah it's so fucked up, now I can't even watch a billion hours of free videos anymore.

Considering google turned YouTube into a shitstorm over the course of a year, I'd say this is really bad.
