CocoaNut
I was thinking that we, as traders, need to start considering something of a lower price than keys as "pure." Basically, we need a lower cost currency that serves as a middle ground between ref and keys, what with a full page of ref only being worth 6 keys these days. My vote is for ToD tickets. Their price will always be indexed to the price of keys, they're in ready supply, are already bought and sold regularly, and, like keys, have a common use among some groups. All that it would take for us to adopt this as currency would be for enough traders to offer the option. So if we have a trade where we're selling items for 7 ref, we just offer the option to substitute a ToD ticket for 3.33 ref. I plan to include this in my future trades and I ask that you guys do, too. It's not that keys are overpriced or anything like that, just that it would be nice to have a form of currency that serves as a middle ground, a place where keys used to be. Slocumruls
Tickets correlate well with keys generally whereas metal continues to sink that is why Tickets>>>>>>>>Metal.

Embix
I think we should have metal instead because then if we want to buy something that costs like 4.33, how will we pay?
CocoaNut
I think we should have metal instead because then if we want to buy something that costs like 4.33, how will we pay? Uh... the same way things for 1.5 keys and the like work? You'd pay 1 ToD Ticket and 1 ref. Not that hard. People use HOUWARS as a currency? Never knew that. Any currency past buds aren't commonly used as currency, but accepted as such. It all depends on if the people involved want to actually bother with rare currencies. d0 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
i am already accepting it as a currency. ok lets do dis plug: 2 ticket for 1 key add meeeee Most people accept ToD's as 3-3.33 Same with other stuff like - craft hat 1-1.33, tools, paints & other market items. Easy sell promo's such as Bill's & BMOC is like a semi-currency imo. And when it comes to unusual essentially all higher tier Genuine/unique items got an almost equal value (headcase, robo-sandvich, grandmaster, v bill's etc etc). There's not much items that cost 3.33, it's just gonna get a "do you got change for a ToD" battle with all the below 3.33 sellers. Think metal is a much better option here, if we could make ToD's .5 keys it'll be different. But I don't think that'll work out in the long run as Pearly Gates mentioned, sales causing tools/tod's/paints etc to get a 50% off for a while. I should've said Max's (exluding lvl 1) and clean HOUWARs is essentially valued as pure, but I guess 99% of the traders would prefer keys/buds - sure. But in higher trades & for suggestion that involve Max's/HOUWARs doesn't have any overpay applied (if not 1 & duped).

But I don't think that'll work out in the long run as Pearly Gates mentioned, sales causing tools/tod's/paints etc to get a 50% off for a while. 1. We're talking about items that would be sold for 1 ToD ticket or more. A strange Rocket Launcher, for example, would be 1.2 tickets. A strange black box would be 1.7-1.8 tickets, etc. 2. 3.33 is not an eternal price. Much like the price of keys, it's going to rise. Of course, having a second purchaseable currency (that Valve has shown it's willing to put on sale) might actually lessen the inflation on keys so people can stop bitching about it. FYI, my only issue with key prices is, as mentioned before, the sheer amount of metal involved (requiring a massive amount of metal on-hand). 3. Furthermore, it helps with buyers like me. As an example, I buy strange ubersaws at 6 ref. That would be, as mentioned before, 1.8 tickets. I might buy a Birdman of Australiacatraz for 1 ticket, things like that. F CHARLIE
Tod tickets are fine as currency but are uncommon as people use them to play the game. There are other items that I have accepted. The spy/sniper misc double cross comm, veils. I would say nothing above a max is currency. I don't think items above can be broken down quickly enough. Btw are tod tickets gotten on paypal? There are 3/4 of a million in public backpacks, almost as much as there are keys. Also, people do use keys to unbox, you know. And yes. People buy and sell ToD tickets via Paypal.
