Okay It seems not many people know minecraft.
I love this game, probably have over 800 hours played on it.
I just love it, And I have a few questions.. Were you ever an Admin/Owner/Mod/Helper or simply staff on a server?
Do you like minecraft? Why?

I just love minecraft because It has no limits,
And I once was a mod on LL's Server (250/250 All the time...)
And I left because I did not like the community as much.

I enjoy it and my kids love it. I love the potential it has as a teaching tool for them. None of those questions fit me but why are you asking?

TL;DR I can't love minecraft as a game anymore because after running a huge cluster of servers with many custom mods and scripts on it, default minecraft and pretty much everyone elses' server I go on sucks in my twisted opinion because I miss my old servers.

Fun game though.

teaching tool?

I have fairly young children.  Minecraft is a far superior form of building blocks, legos, etc.  Some of the components are connected to real world concepts (ex cooking chicken) but all of it has to do with sequential actions producing results.  Many are very complex some are not so much.  Recently I have been trying to teach them how to build a mob grinder.  In order to do these things you have to understand certain game rules and why something happens.  Its not that much different from more boring things like fixing some plumbing or change circuit boards.

I've been admin on a few servers, pretty fun. Until one of the owners of themselves went full retard. I still enjoy Minecraft, but the fun just slowly drifts away from me.

Most of the servers that they run is a un-original same bullshit type of servers. I played way back in 2008 when you could eat food and not have a hunger bar, Its quite an amazing game with everything you can do with creativity ( not making penises ) and very much more. Its just that the fact every server is exactly like the other it just makes it boring overtime

Lego > Minecraft

I dont think that. Minecraft is much cheaper. If price doesn't matter, of course lego is a good game but there are a lot of limitations. I'd say Minecraft > Lego. I've played more than 4k hours and now it would be kinda boring :c Great game btw :P

I really enjoy minecraft.  Not only is typical survival fun, it serves as a simple and fun tool to people who want to design their own games based off of the already present mechanics by making adventure maps.  I'm admin on a couple different types of minecraft servers.

It seems like we're all in agreement that the MC community generally consists of a younger audience.  Naturally, expect to see begging, spamming, and general butthurt (for lack of a better word) over really childish things.  It just comes with the game.  On the other hand, I've seen from personal experience that if the kids can work through these problems (sometimes with a little help from older players or staffers), MC can actually teach kids a lot about respecting other's property and personal space.

If you enjoy MC and are looking for something perhaps even more laborious, I've personally really enjoyed FTB.  I'm admin for a FTB server, and it's been loads of fun both creating my own base, houses, machines, and other stuff, as well as helping the other players.

Lego > Minecraft

legos are just sooo expensive now lol. They were far supior though. I remeber building one of those lego robots with the motors, we got it on clearance for like 50$, the same-ish set is 350$ now.

Minecraft was fun for a while, it got old after most of my favorite servers shut down. I still play tech-it every once and a while with my friends, but theres only so much you can do.

Lego > Minecraft

Lego and Minecraft are both equally good as far as education goes.

Minecraft lets kids be creative and gives them freedom to do whatever they want to

Lego teaches kids very basic engineering and how to follow instructions, which serves more of a real life purpose

minecraft is still way cheaper tho

I don't know about you, but if/when I have kids, I would much rather them playing and building with Lego than sitting in front of a computer screen.

Sadly, those times seems to be fading away. Almost all kids play games in PC/Ipod/tablet/smartphone/other devices. You hardly see kids actually doing something productive these days. I remember when I used to run around and play with my childhood friends and nowadays its a rare occurrence to actually see that happening. :(

Cops n' Robbers, Hide n' Seek, Water Balloons, Marbles, Brandy (dodgeball), Brio, Match-boxes, Hot wheels, Board Games, Sand Pits, etc etc.

Those were the days.
